RE: Pvt Charles Samuel Place
Dear Sandra,
I try to leave "flowers" for every veteran as they all have done so much for our country, especially those we have lost in the wars, which is always so very sad. My dad is a WWII Vet who will be 90 next month, is wheelchair bound and says he is "older than dirt", but I have tried to let him know how much it meant to me that he served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He was shot down in the South Pacific in 1945, only one of two men who survived and doesn't like to discuss it, but I want him to know how proud I am of him for all he has done. They are all going to be gone much too soon; I try to at least give them & the others from past wars (and wars that came after) acknowledgement for their service for we wouldn't be America without them. I appreciate your kind email. Thanks so much. Take care.

RE: Lewis L Dyche Headstone Photos
I would be happy to fulfill your request. There is no need for a "Photo requests" I do it to help as others have helped me with my own genealogical pursuits. I have checked my photos and I am not satisfied with what I have. The cemetery is not far I will make a trip and get better photos.

Capt. Alfred Goddin
Hi Diane,

I finally got a reply back from Hollywood concerning Alfred Goddin. They have record of his interment as July 15, 1940.

I'm not sure if they mean his ashes, body, or the erection of the cenotaph?

I'll contact them again to see if they can clarify.

You mentioned that you have more information on him. These Goddins in this section of Hollywood are my cousins. I am very interested in learning what you have.

All the best,
I also plan to go out there very soon and get a picture of his stone.

Hi Diane, I posted a little better, less blurry photo of her grave marker to your memorial (93437381). With the lovely photos you posted of her and her bio, maybe re-arrange the photos so the the picture I posted is not at the front of her memorial? If you would prefer that I just remove the photo, let me know and I will.

Mary Abbott
That's a great bio! Thank you for sending it to me. I added all of it to her memorial. I'm going to the cemetery in a few weeks and will try to find their headstones.
Thanks again!

Mary Miller Abbott 50071018
Are you sure it's the correct Mary Miller Abbott? That would make her mother, Mary Miller 90597474, about 46 or 47 when Mary had her daughter Mary. And her siblings 19 and 22 years older than Mary the daughter.

Mary Casey
Hi Diane, I just got home from Holy Cross and took two photos of the plot where Mary Casey is buried (beside her husband James). Unfortunately, you will see that there is no marker on her grave. I will remove the photos if you do not want them here.

Best regards,

Capt. Alfred Goddin, Jr.
Hi Diane,

You sent me a message concerning the grave of Alfred Goddin, Jr. A stone is in his family section at Hollywood for him. It may be a cenotaph. I'll try and get a photograph of it the next time I'm out there (which is often).

You say you have more information on him. Are you related to him?

RE: Renix Hodge
Hi Diane, I was hoping we could exchange notes and see how we are related. I'm a distant cousin of William Renick Hodge, who was killed during the Civil War. I think his father was Renix Hodge, whose memorial you manage.
Take care! Kym Hodge

John Graham Davidson
Hi, I was just wondering if you were related to the Davidson's or Dill's. I am trying to find a connection between John Davidson and James Berlin Dill, who was born in Kentucky. In the 1900 census for Richmond, VA, James is residing with John and Lillian Davidson, listed as John's cousin. I have been doing research on the Dill family for several years. My g-grandfather's sister was Cora Jane Lyle Dill, wife of James Isaac Dill. I am looking for James B. Dill's parents. I would appreciate any info you could help me with.

RE: McDonough Family
Hello Diane,

My mother was raised by Julia and James P "Doc" McDonough. They had no children of their own. She was taken in as a foster child when she was six year around 1934 during the depression era. My siblings were brought up knowing the McDonoughs as their grandparents. I was born after Doc had died and when Julia was very sick. I have a foggy memory of her. My mother was always very thankful for what they did for her and our family.
Thanks for the information and if I can provide any to you let me know. My mom is 86 and could answer questions you have.
Kind Regards,

McDonough Family
I made the changes you emailed to me. My mother was raised by Mary RANKIN McDonough's son James P McDonough. I knew his mother was a Rankin. Thanks for the connection. Do you know any more about the family?

Luigi Colombo.
Thank you for the info on Luigi. This is one of the 44,000 + memorials the administration transferred to me from Retaggio to fix up, so I'm not the one who put that horrible note in the "note" area. I would never hold info. hostage. Sorry you saw it before I erased it.

I will write to S. Pisciotta and SFLondon (2 of the wonderful photographers in the area that I know of) and I'll ask them to look for a headstone and take a photo. If we put in a photo request through the memorial, Retaggio is claiming all he can and having them deleted. So sad. And if we call the cemetery office and speak to the public relations person Nickolas, he is Retaggio, so probably won't get any help there.

I was looking for your email address, but unfortunately it looks like I could only post to your 'wall'. I tried to keep it short. hmm looks like a novel. :)

Please write to me about any memorial in Italian Cemetery that you know about. My only purpose is to get every memorial fixed up. I currently have some awesome helpers, but I'll take any help offered to me.

The Dice photo is posted. Ordinarily, I only post photos with a request or it doesn't count toward my volunteer photos and because I recently lost a hard drive with many of my Find A Grave photos on it. So rather than go out and take another, I just copied the one I had on Find A Grave and posted it, which worked just fine.

Hi, my name is Aimee, I was going to claim your request fit a photo of Mary Caseys grave and just realized someone has already done it. I wanted to let you know thatI have an elderly friend that was raised here in LYNCHBURG and married William Mallan Casey Jr. son of William Mallan and Elizabeth Adams. William Mallan Jr.s grandfather was Charles M. Casey and grandmother was Margaret Mallon Casey. If they are any relation my friend Muriel Casey said she would be glad to talk to you.

RE: Mary Casey Dunn and David Robert Dunn Headstones
Glad to help w/the photos! I tried to leave a little info w/them so if you haven't enlarged each photo individually, you might want to. That will show the caption with info. Mary's parents & brother Thomas are in the same plot. I added a pic for Thomas which included his dates; don't know if you were searching for them. Also wanted to mention that the plot right next to 79 is another Casey group. In the photos it has the large angel statue. If you are wanting info or pics for them, let me know! - Eileen

RE: Renix Hodge
Hi Diane! Please see my father's correspondence to me below and contact him at - He is very eager to hear from you. His name is V. Rodney Hodge...

Email 12/6/13:
Kym, I have stats, just not entered them in ancestral file yet.Jeremiah, my GGG grandfather had bros. named James, who married Mary Hamilton. They had son named Renick, born 4/22/1795.( He was bros. of Elizabeth Hodge, born 1793.)(This is important because of Oren Morton book entry of them being bros. & sister) Renick is father of Renix S. Hodge. SO--- I need to enter these into ancestral file for it to figure out kinship.

1. Renick is nephew of Jeremiah.(Renick is son of his bros., James who married Mary Hamilton))

2. therefore, renick's son, Renix is Jeremiah's Grand nephew. I have to wait until I enter these new findings for PAF Companion to show family relationship. If Diane Parker can give me some info, I can show our kinship. You realize, I have been searching for Jeremiah's famlly for years!!! just hope the Registry Report for John Hodges, which I am using as my reference, is correct!!! (Had this thing for a long time, just have had a REAL HARD time deciphering it.) All wll have to wait until I can decipher the info I have and enter it nto my ancestral files. After, PA Companion will show exactly who is related to who with a detailed report!! Pop
