RE: Thank You!!!
Hi Dianna! Yes, I'm related to Amanda Vaughan. I have just emailed you on the email address you have listed here. Please let me know if you don't get it, as I listed some information there. Would love to talk to you on the phone, as I grew up in AZ and was surprised to see that you live there....

Ruth E. Ford Shupe
Hi Dianna, FYI, Ruth E. Ford is my great grand aunt, so therefore all the Shupe Family in this Marriage Line are my kin. I would not even venture a guess who the unmarked graves in the Granville Shupe Cemetery are but would bet they are kin to Granville and Ruth. I will continue to pursue this family as best I can.

I have a couple of questions about dates and places for the Shupes. Can you tell me where Allen was born and died? Can you give me dates and places of birth for his children and death dates for the three (except Delores) that may have died since Allen and Portia's deaths. I may have had them at one time but I had a computer crash last year and I am still trying to fill in details on a lot of people.

I am curious how you are related to Allen Shupe and wide Portia Grantham? Their son Keith is married to a cousin of mine on my fathers side.

You sent an email saying we linked James Selotti as her spouse and should be her son.

But then you sent the following edit:

Spouse 1:
James V. Selotti
(1924 - 1946)

Spouse 2:
Adolph E. Adler
(1895 - 1966)

RE: Vada Ruth Cochran
Hi Dianna... Well, I some not so good news! I went back to the cemetery today with the additional Ruth Cochran address, which lead me to a row or so from the other Ruth Cochran. This made sense since you said they were mother and daughter. Unfortunately, there was no marker for Vada Ruth. So, because this is an older part of the cemetery with address designations of C, D, and DD all merged together, I stopped by the office to see if I was in the wrong location. A very nice caring employee went back and pulled the original cards for both Ruths. The addresses on their records are as listed, but there was no record for placement of a marker, meaning none was ever placed. So, no marker, and unfortunately, no birth nor death dates given. Vada Ruth is listed on the California Death Index on Found this: Vada R Cochran
Birth Year: abt 1929
Death Date: 25 Aug 1930
Age at Death: 1
Death Place: Orange, California, USA found this:Name: Vada Ruth Cochran
Event Type: Birth
Event Date: 25 May 1929
Event Place: Orange, California, United States
Gender: Female
Mother's Name: Melvin

Was she just a baby when she passed? Must be her birth record. According Find A Grave entry for Ruth Franklin MELVIN Cochran, she would have been her mom!

Vada also shows up on the FC 1930.

I'm so sorry there is nothing there for Vada, but hope the additional info helps. If you do not have access to, please email me and I'll be happy to send you the documented info on her birth and passing. You can reach me at

Vada Ruth Cochran
Hi Dianna!! I'm so sorry! There was a problem and I did not retain the requestors name, thinking the the memorial creator was who I needed to inform! If you go to Margi's profile page, you will see my note!

I went to the GS cemetery and found Ruth Cochran at the address you listed, I also, confirmed the address on the GS database. The address listed for your Ruth Cochran request is D-148-10. There is a Ruth Cochran at that address, but she is Ruth F. Cochran. I photoed the marker and did use the photo to fulfill your request, however, after looking further, I realized that there must be an error in the cemetery database. I then removed the photo. So, I've looked up "Cochran" in the database and found another Ruth Cochran at D-2108-1. I believe that there is a crisscross error in the GS cemetery database indexing! If you go to and look for Ruth Cochran, you'll find both of them!

I will return to the cemetery tomorrow or Friday and hunt down the marker and submit the photo. Please don't rerequest it! It will only confuse things! Once I get the photos straightened out, I'll drop by the office and let them know.

I'm so sorry for the confusion!! Denise

Hello Dianna. Yes, I did visit the cemetery. It was in terrible shape as is the case with most Linn Co., MO cemeteries. I recall snapping a photo but for the life of me I'm exhausted looking for it. When it shows up...and it will, I'll pass it along to you.

RE: Thank You!!!
You are so very welcome! I did re-add her spouse but noticed you had requested her spouse was unknown. Do I really need to delete him as her spouse or was that just an error? I thought she and Robert were married. Hope all is going great for you! I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow and I'm so excited! I found the cemetery, in the woods, that my dad's family is in! My 2-3-4 great grandparents are all buried there and lots of their kids! I am jumping out of my skin to go verify they are there! Let me know if I can help with any other accts for you! Maria

Nope, I don't "own" all mine because some of my ancestors/relatives are ancestors/relatives of other contributors and they prefer not to give them up.

RE: Lloyd W Moreau
The best one I've seen didn't even involve me. A lady had made this memorial to someone unknown to her. Several months later she got a nasty email that this person didn't want a memorial to her ancestor/relative. She didn't think memorials were a good idea at all. She lambasted Find-a-grave for allowing memorials. The lady transferred it to her and so allowed her to take the gravestone picture off and simply had the name up.
I want my ancestors and relatives to be remembered but I guess I'm just funny that way.
