Grandmother 's grave
Guy it was great to see my grandmother 's grave in Vass cemetary. She is Bessie Burgess and died when my Dad was 1 year old. My dad's aunt raised him. She is Ida Francis Everett. I know she is buried there also. I was at her burial when I was a young girl. I do not see her listed. I found her Death certificate but nothing else.

I loved seeing the grave stone and death certificate. Thank you very much. ,My father is Bernard Burgess son of Bessie.

Thank you for the transfers Guy, and also for photographing the headstones. I find the photographing is more difficult to do than I expected. I like to share the information that I find, so thank you. I still love to go home, even thought I have been away for many years. Florida is too hot and flat for me...lol.
Take care!

RE: Maple Fork Cemetery, Raleigh County, West Virginia
I'm not going to be of much help - - on the 1900 census - Wm Barton and 2nd wife Mary (Craddock) lived in/near Maple Fork - - so I just took a stab at him being buried there - - I'm clear across the US from WV - - so not sure what other cemeteries in in that vicinity..

Maple Fork Cemetery, Raleigh County, West Virginia
I see you took the cemetery photo and have documented many in this little cemetery..

I am searching for the grave of my great great grandfather… he is enumerated on the 1900 census - in the Maple Fork area .. he is not on the 1910 census - - so am assuming that he died in this area…??

First - - is this little cemetery complete documented??

If so - is there another cemetery close by??

My great great grandfather is William Barton . . he was born ca 1830 in Virginia and married a 2nd time to Mary (Sissy) Craddock in Raleigh County, WV ca 1898 - - she lived 2 census after he appears.

Any ideas??

Thanks, Kathy

Hello Guy, it's me again... may I please care for Memorial # 120690239 for my cousin until she is able to? If "yes" or if "no"... either way I thank you for all that you have done and that you continue to do. :)

Could you add your tombstone photo of John Pate also to his wife Marys memorial. Or I could do it with your permission.
Thank you
Pete

I am related in a way... distantly and I already know that my fist cousin will want to take care of his memorial. She's closer related to him than I am. Thank you so much for your kindness and if I find any others that connect, I'll let you know and maybe you'll allow us to care for them as you have so generously done.

Hi, any chance you would transfer memorial # 120690669 over to me? I'm working on his family. If not then I do understand and thank you.

48191712 is my contributor number. On her memorial in the upper right corner is a TRANSFER tab. Press the tab and enter my number, then it will show my name and you confirm the transfer.
Thanks so very much.

Hello Guy,
Would you please consider transferring her memorial to me. She was married to my first cousin, Les. I would appreciate it. I can add to her bio.
God Bless!

how to avoid cemetery duplication
Tough one! Sometimes I try to see if a person in the cemetery I want to add has a death certificate on file.

http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_dcsearch.aspx

Often that gives the name of the cemetery at that date in history. Cemetery names sometime change and sometimes death certificates are not accurate. I also look up obits when possible. I am trying to figure out if I have made a duplicate due to differences in opinion as to which county the cemetery is in. I see one cemetery is in 2 counties! County line goes down the middle. When I find out a cemetery had a different name I inform Find A Grave and have them put aka the other name. I have made mistakes and have had to either change or eliminate. Can't be helped, we just do our best!

Davis family online history.
Davis Cemetery, aka, John W. Davis Cemetery, has graves for Davis family as referenced below. I see you did a lot of work there too. Too bad you can't add the map and directions without going through the forums. But can you tell me how to find this one?

Davis-good find!
Davis family history online. If you scroll down you will find information on a number of people you have listed for Davis Homestead Cemetery. You can find maiden names, children, relationships, etc. It is a little difficult to follow, but has a lot of info. Apparently, it is aka Sam Davis Cemetery.

computer challenged?
You did great! Once you figure out how to add the maps it is a cinch thereafter. I will have to go see this cemetery of yours someday. I located an undocumented cemetery yesterday in Raleigh county. I named it the Mann Family Cemetery and posted it on Find A Grave. Really enjoy finding them. Happy Hunting!

RE: RE: re: Harper Cemetery updates, and others
Kudos! Well done. I think I spotted a "lost" cemetery by using satellite view on Bing maps- Find A Grave uses Google, but I prefer using Bing to locate cemeteries- then I use Find A Grave's Google map to add it in. May I ask a favor? On your Harper-Shelton, please go to edit- lat/longs. It will bring up a Google map for you to locate cemetery. You can even go to satellite view to be sure to get exact cemetery location. Once you click it on and save it the lat/longs will be there forever and the cemetery won't get "lost" again. Well, off to hunt cemeteries. Thank you!

re: Harper Cemetery updates, and others
Thanks. I did take all those photos too, but hadn't posted them yet. I am helping a genealogical/historical society locate and document all Raleigh Co., WV graves for books they are going to publish. I would be interested in any cemeteries you have located that are "missing" with no maps or locations indicated. Personally, I am interested in the cemeteries of Harper and Eccles. Thank you!
