Hi, Robin
Aloha! I'm on vacation, and this laptop won't allow me to make the changes you've provided. 'Will get back on the ball next week. Thanks for all the great help, Robin.

Thanks, Robin! Memorial deleted. That's the problem with working from obituaries; sometimes the remains have picked up and moved to another cemetery.

RE: Iowa Hill
You're welcome, and I know that you will take good care of them! You're doing a great job on that cemetery!

Iowa Hill
Hi Robin, I hope you don't mind, but I transferred all of the memorials that I had at Iowa Hill to you. It is much more appropriate that you are the one that has them instead of me, since you are the one doing all the work! I really appreciate all of the additional information that you have sent, and all of the time that you have spent on this cemetery!

additional info
When I saw all the No-reply emails in my inbox this morning, I wondered who did I p** off? ;) But no, it was Robin being busy at the Iowa Hill burials grounds. Thanks for all the additional info; changes made!

Dorothy Goodburn Collins
Dorothy passed away in Missouri and was cremated. Her remains are to be interred next to her husband. If it hasn't happened yet, it will be. I just don't have a date on that yet. This information came to me from her daughter or niece--I can't remember which until I consult my tree. Please be patient on this one and eventually things will work themselves out. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Thanks for the cemetery info. Correction made. I'm starting to doubt the wisdom of relying on those burial records...

Thanks for the correct age. I did a little more research on Charles and beefed up his bio too.

Thanks for the very expressive obituary, which has been added per your request. However, I'm puzzled by the phrase "lingering illness." I thought he died from a hay wagon accident?

Robin, Thank you for emailing the obit to me! I was able to visit Colfax Cemetery only once on a trip through the area and ran out of time before getting to try to go through newspaper microfilm at the Auburn Library. Did you find this by going through microfilm? I'm also intrigued to read "Miss Annie Hawkins of Iowa Hill" -- before he passed, my dad referred me to the book "History of Placer and Nevada Counties" in the downtown L.A. library that has a page about my paternal great-grandfather and includes, "In 1855, Mrs. Margaret Maginn Hawkins left the Emerald Isle to come to the United States and she was keeping a boarding house in Iowa Hill, California. Three years later, her brother Patrick decided that he, too, would leave his native land and seek the Golden West; he came with his family, in which there was a seven-year-old boy . . . " the "seven-year-old boy" was my paternal great-grandfather but I haven't been able to find any more information about his aunt "Mrs. Margaret Maginn Hawkins" or her "boarding house in Iowa Hill." Do you have any suggestions for me about that? Thank you again! -Jennie Maginn Bauer

Hi, Robin. The link has been made, thanks! That picture you posted of his slightly crooked headstone within the boxed-in plot is so forlorn, isn't it.
