George William Tate
I am the former wife of Maurice Alan Tate, son of Gary R. Tate, son of Sherman Andrew Tate, son of George William Tate. My son is Matthew Riley Tate who passed away 2013.

I am trying to create a family tree for Matthew's son Camden who is 7 years old. Anyway, I wanted to know if you could get a picture of George W. Tate's and Alma K. Guthrie Tate's headstone.

Also, do you know how many children George William Tate had. I have found 7 children: Sherman Andrew, Mildred Annie, Dawly W. or M., Mary, Grovert or Joseph, Mertle and Marcie or Marcil.

If you are related could you please clarify this information and send it to me.

Thank you so very much.

Ronkat, Could you change Roberts death year to 1928 rather 1923. It says 1928 on the headstone and on his death cert. Thank you

Cantrell stones
Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to research these. They probably don't have stones.

Good luck in your own research.

Ron & Kathy, thank you so much for the time and effort in looking for those tombstones. I believe that some graves are without stones and that may be what happened.

RE: Stonestreet Cem
This cemetery is off the beaten path; I only found it because it is directly beside the Edens Family Cemetery, which I was visiting. Take the I-77 exit #111 (Tuppers Creek) and turn up Walker Drive (right turn if going north, left if going south). About 1/4 mile up, turn left on Crack Rock Drive, directly across from Walker Chapel Baptist Church.

You will pass a white, wooden house on the right, just before a curve. Coming out of the curve, there are two driveways on the left. Turn left onto the second driveway which leads to a large, locked metal gate. A member of the Edens family lives in the home to the right of the driveway. It would probably be a good idea to let them know why you are there, if they are home.

You can park directly in front of the metal gate, and walk up the primitive road toward the cemetery. You will come to the first flat and see a tree with directional arrow signs on it, indicating the Edens Cemetery is to the right and farther up the hill. You will have to go through/over/around another metal gate (which is not locked) and continue on the primitive road to the Edens Cemetery.

Once you reach the Edens Cemetery, you will see, off to the right, a fenced in cemetery with no sign, and probably not mowed or cared for. This is the Stonestreet Cemetery. There is a gate for entry there.

If this sounds complicated, I would be willing to meet you at the Walker Chapel Church and guide you up the hill. The last time I went, my brother and I asked the Edens family if they would unlock the gate and we drove up, but four-wheel drive is needed to make it.

No thanks, Ronkat.

Actually, William Love's previous wife (to Elizabeth Jane Shelton), Margaret Handley, is a sister of my great-great grandfather, James Handley.
