RE: James Frank McElyea
I deleted the photos after I realized that the name was different. The plot is the one you had listed, same last name, but different first name. I didn't look around to see if there was a James McElyea near by. Next time I'm there, I will look for you.

RE: George T Bean Gravestone Photo
Dick,

I stopped by De Soto Cemetery again last Saturday, and took a picture of the military marker that I missed the first time. It's unlike me to miss stuff like that, but there was some rain closing in on me and I was trying to move as fast as I could.

So, the photo you needed is uploaded to the memorial now. I'm glad I could help you out!

Richard Benadum Meers
Hello. This is just to let you know that the cemetery office records also have this soldier's last name as Benadum, however his marker has Meers. Not sure what that means, but I thought maybe you would know. I will put a note in the photo caption to indicate what the cemetery records day.

Best Regards,
Bonnie

RE: Charles Robert Vest
Hello...
Hi Dick,
Sorry I have been so remiss about answering you inquiry about Spec Vest.

I have done a bit of research and re-located the newspaper article I found from Portsmouth OH:
It has a photo of Congresswoman Jean Schmidt who did the medal presentation to Charles' sister Connie Frances (Vest) Murnane and brother Paul Vest.

It also lists the reporter who wrote the article- FRANK LEWIS can be reached at (740) 353-3101, ext. 232- I have just called him at the newspaper and left a message. When I talk to him I will ask about contacting Connie or Paul.

I am giving you the addy for Congresswoman Schmidt. She might have contact info. for Connie or Paul as well.

Portsmouth Daily Times newspaper article:

Bob Vest Finally Gets His Place On The Vietnam Memorial Wall
http://www.portsmouth-dailytimes.com/view/full_story/7813692/article-Bob-Vest-Finally-Gets-His-Place-On-The-Vietnam-Memorial-Wall?instance=secondary_news_left_column

Ohio Congresswoman Jean Schmidt:

http://www.house.gov/schmidt/
Office number-513-791-0381.

This might be Charles' sister Connie Frances Murnane, but I am not positive:

Frances A Murnane
(740) 820-2104
6778 Bond Rd
Minford, OH

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope some of this helps you. If I hear/find any more out, I will let you know.
With Warm Regards,
Karen Hopkins
John D. Heflin
Hello, I took photos of John Heflin's grave marker today (will upload them soon), but unfortunately no mention of his military service is included on his marker. There is an older Heflin buried next to him who must be his father, Rufus L. Heflin. It appears his mother may still be alive since there is no nameplate yet for the wife of Rufus, so perhaps you could figure out how to get in contact with her and ask her...or find sibling names in an obit and ask them to find out. As you'll see in the photos, someone has recently visited their graves and left flowers (there weren't many flowers at graves in that section today). Good luck and I'm sorry his marker does not include the information you were seeking.
I am claiming this photo request. I live in Lockney where he is buried. He is next to his parents. My dad was very good friends with George. I have a rubbing of his name from the traveling Vietnam wall. I also have his baby books. His sweet mother gave them to me back when my mother and I was caring for her before her death. I was glad to know the family and will be honored to fill this request for you. God bless.....
