Kirk Purington Sr
Capt. Robert H. Purington
Hi Kara, My name is Kirk Purington Sr and I live in Dover, New Hampshire. I came across the photo you took of the headstone of Capt. Robert Harrington Purington, and his wife Mary Jane. I have a couple of questions, 1) Are you related to the Puringtons in some way? 2) In what cementery did you get this photo, and where in Maine? 3) Were there any other Purington's in the Cemetery, and lastly, If you are not related, could you transfer this memorial of Robert & Mary to me? Capt Robert is my 3rd great grandfather.

If you are related and need any information, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks very much, Kirk

I tried to make the corrections you suggested, you'll need to check to see if I got them all correct. I wondered why you have added photos for all the stones in the Schoolhouse cemetery as they already had photos that looked good to me?

Chesley Cemetery
Good Morning,
Sorry on the directions to the Chesley Cemetery on Merry Hill Rd...AT BARRINGTON town line, Looks like Picture. Swaine Pond turn of real close on right.
This comes off Rt 4 in Nottingham, at the top of the hill, on the L if going toward Lee Circle.
From Northwood line, aprox 2 1/2 miles, was the first left. From Northwood you have 152 at the line, Garland Rd, ( more of James' family buried here at Old North) Gebig Rd, (a "t" rd) all on the right.then Marry Hill on Left.
When I was home in 2006,from town line, there were 4 houses on left, curve a burned out old place, True W Chesley home in early 1900's, another old farm, Charles H Chesley home,1900's, burned in 1952,lived here, George home across the rd, 1/4 mile, Joseph Chesley home,1800's , burned in 70's, Jonathan Chesley home, across from Gebig Rd., Than Jacob's Chesley's home at the corner of Marry Hill RD. All on the left and at one time called Chesley Villiage by the family, All son's or Grandsons of James and Elizabeth.
True was my GGrand, Charles my Grand.
On Garland Rd at the Cemetery on the Left foot of hill there are many Chesley's, I have 6 Generations there.
The empty graves at Merry Hill Rd were moved to Old North in the 20's and 30's.
At the East end at Northwood, are burried the family of Joshua Rollins Chesley and wife Mary Elizabeth Swain, large stone, about mid way.
Joshua's home, Northwood, at the corner of 4/202/9 across from church, was big red building and called Potters corner. My GGGrand.

Thank you very much Kara for finding the proper Cemetery. I really do appreciate your hard work. I moved my memorials to Hillside Cemetery. What I would like to do is transfer these memorial back to you as I have them already linked to other family members. If you, then could delete these memorials. Tuesday evening I will put in a photo request for both of these memorials, so you can get credit for your great Photos. Thank You very much for understanding, Your Friend, Stuart P.S. Thank you for all the work you have done in creating this new Cemetery. I will notify to find a grave to delete this Parker Head Cemetery.

RE: Joseph Weston
Thanks, Kara!

Since emailing you, we've found his parents. Would you please add these family links.

father Stephen 87021975
mother Abigail 87021989

That will complete what we know to date about Joseph. If you could make those links, there's no reason for a transfer.

Thank you!

RE: Town Burying Ground
Oh no. I remember a tree that had fallen back when we used to go there and we got a cousin to help us remove some of it. I don't think any stones were damaged then. Such a shame. But that cem is not used anymore and is out of the view of the public so goes neglected. I know town budgets are tight and there isn't money for the cemetery upkeep. It happens all over. Such a shame. It was looking so nice for a few years. Brush was all cleared, flowers planted and stones cleaned and some repaired.

RE: Town Burying Ground
Oh so happy you found the cemetery. If you went in by the farm you wouldn't see the rusted cars as they are up the hill from the cem. Or used to be anyway. Maybe they have been removed now. Was the cem in good condition and still being cared for? It used to be very overgrown in years past but seemed to get better as people went to visit it. .

Dear Kara,
Please forgive my tardiness. We have been travelling and really haven't had much access to the Internet until we arrived at my brother's house.

To answer your question: Yes. Her maiden name was WHARRY and was married to Charles Frank Herbert CANNEY.

RE: Benjamin Ricker
I have received a date of death being 6 Oct 1850. The source is a vital record that does not give her first name but states husband as Benjamin F Ricker. Death was in Maine.

RE: Benjamin Ricker
I noticed that you posted it already. I should have checked earlier. There is only one problem. She can't be the wife to Benjamin F Ricker since he married Mercy Pierce on 12 Feb 1826 in Lebanon, Maine by Rev. James Weston.

Thanks so much for checking. I have both of them as living all of their lives in Dover and passing away in Dover, but perhaps they are buried elsewhere, or the records have been lost. I really appreciate your taking a look around. Thanks so much.
