Hi, Teresa!

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you regarding Ruby Donath's tombstone photographs. They are now uploaded. Let me know if you need anymore around this area, okay?

One Foot In The Grave
John Melton 1954-2011
To the members of "One Foot In The Grave", I'm sorry to have to inform you that John Melton died August 12, although we just found out about it yesterday. If you would like more details, send me your email address. I have a more lengthy note that I would rather not post as a public message.

My email is

One Foot In The Grave
Family Connection

I may have been in touch before about this but my memory isn't what it used to be, so bear with me if we have. I noticed that not only are we both in the Find A Grave group that John Melton formed (One Foot in the Grave as it's called now), we both have a Donath connection. Mine comes through the Erikson family. My great-great grandfather was Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Slane. His brother was James Thomas Slane who had a daughter Eva, who married Erik Albert Erikson. Eva Slane Erikson's daughter Maimee Erikson married Jesse Lewis Donath Sr. That makes Ruth Donath Stichling and her siblings Frank, Juanita and Jesse Jr 3rd cousins of my father Harold O Slane 1912-1976.

I have you and your husband (don't have his first name though) in my file but I apparently don't have enough to see how you're connected to the Donaths. If you were so inclined I'd like to fill in some of the blanks and see how we're connected.

Irene Kauf in Chillicothe
Irene Kauf : Could you add to her memorial page the fact that she reached adulthood, and was a teacher of some kind ? I picked this up through a very careful reading of a census where she was shown living with her parents in Chillicothe. A shame that they did not inscribe her dates on the huge headstone, but one gets the sense that she perhaps died young, before her father even.

She was also the granddaughter of Thomas B. Boylan, and the great-granddaughter of Patrick and Mary Branigan Boylan, Irish immigrants who had built a log cabin a short distance west of the Chillicothe boundary, in 1840.

Thank You.
