Wm. James & Malina Tomlinson's Son
Hi Art, I thought you might be interested in a newspaper article I found at at newspaper in Covington, Louisiana, which is where John Franklin Tomlinson died. He was my grandfather and the son of William James and Malina Herman Tomlinson. He was only 37 and was getting a business established and was going to send for my grandmother and their five children but he died suddenly at age 37. Nobody knows what happened. His employer found him in bed when he didn't show up for work. The file I uploaded to John Franklin Tomlinson's Ancestry record is a text file that I re-typed from the hard-to-read newspaper article which I have if anyone is interested.

RE: Malina (Herman) Tomlinson
Hi Art. Sorry it took so long. Summer at the cabins is hopping with visitors. I finally got a picture of Malina Herman Tomlinson and William James Tomlinson and who I believe is their daughter, Stella (Born Sarah Estelle Tomlinson). I'm about to upload it.

RE: Malina (Herman) Tomlinson
Hi. Yes, I have pictures of Malina and her husband, William James Tomlinson. They were my Great Grandparents. I have an older cousin still living who remembers them. My pictures are at home but I've been staying at our cabin for the summer. The next time I go home, I'll grab a couple of the pictures and upload them. Should be within the week.

RE: John Tomlinson
I have finally found where James and Mary Tomlinson came from (parents of the 10 sons in the Muncy/Loyalsock area of Lycoming County). With the help of another member of Ancestry, Ron Clees, he discovered their origins in the U.S. to be in Bucks County, PA. I was skeptical at first but multiple clues convinced me. Let me know if you are interested. I've been able to go all the way back to 1640s England (Covent Gardens, London).

Is it possible that Catherine or Alice, not sure which she went by, remarried after her husband died in '08? I can't find a death certificate nor can I find her in a 1910 census. Help?

I thought so too. We had snow here yesterday, the first recorded snowfall in Arkansas in May, ever. It was pretty the few hours it lasted. Don't forget to mark your calendar to call me when you leave for Missouri. Take care.

Stephen Tomlinson
I have found several references to Stephen's father James on Some say James was born in England or Bucks Co. PA. I think that Bucks Co. is plausable. One source gives James' father as Richard Tomlinson of Bucks Co. PA. "The Ten Sons of James and Mary Tomlinson" by Lloyd E. Tomlinson mentions our common ancestor Stephen as one of their sons. A lot yet to learn.

Thanks for the tip on Stephen Tomlinson and Margaret Hoffman Tomlinson links. Don't know how I missed them, I have been back to the Montoursville Cemetery from IN several times and will "reside" there myself someday. Would welcome any Tomlinson genealogy you could share.

Samuel & Nancy Brannan
Arthur, I made most of the changes you suggested. Please recheck the birth year for Samuel. You wrote 1840 but his death certificate clearly says 1838. Please note if you're looking up his DC to use the name Brannon, not an. And it says he died in Lafayette County? I didn't change Nancy's middle name to Hester because her DC clearly says Esther and the headstone has the initial E and so does Samuel's DC use the initial E for Nancy's middle name. Her DC clearly states she died in Sept, not December. If you disagree with any of this please let me know.

RE: Marguerite Middleton
I will go back and try to find Thomas Middleton.
He died so much earlier than Marguerite, so may not be buried near her.
