RE: William Newton Ely (1832-1895)
Thank you so much for this. I would love to see your tree or whatever information you can send to me. My Tree is in Ancestry under Dickerson Johnson Family Tree. I have looked everywhere for William Newton Ely's Death Certificate, including sending off for a copy but even they could not find it, so would love to see that.

I settled (for now) with Elias Ely as Willian Newton Ely's father. If that is correct, Elias was a shoemaker and his father was named George. So it kind of fit, and that puts us in the Joshua Ely tree instead of the Nathaniel Ely tree.

If you are no longer on Ancestry I can send you a request so you can access my tree.

My email is jlsearan@comcast.net

Thank you so much for the response, and lets keep in touch. Are you still in Ohio?

Kind regards,
Judi

William Newton Ely (1832-1895)
William Newton Ely is my 2nd Great Grandfather. Confirmed by DNA, he had a brother George and we are related.

However, when I researched George Ely, (My Great Uncle), I could not find a connection to William Ferguson, who you show as William Newtons & George Newtons father. So I searched further and found two publications from two Ely families: The Nathaniel Ely family (your information) and the Joshua Ely family (which may be another possibility).

Interestingly, the Joshua Ely family publication goes back to 1544 in England and Joshua came here in 1600's -as did Nathaniel, but different families:

a) Joshua had a son George in 1675, and much later, following the tree, Elias Ely (1801-?) had two sons: George Ely (1827-185) and William Ely (1832-1895).
b) According to the Nathaniel Ely book, William Ely was born in 1829 and was a doctor. However, my great grandfather (and the William Ely buried in Short Creek Cemetery) was born in 1832, and I think my great grandfather was a shoemaker. According to the Joshua Family tree, Elias Ely was the father of William and Elias was also a shoemaker. Anyway, I am doing more research and wondering if you ever checked into the Joshua Ely tree as respects William Newton Ely?

Kind regards,
Judi

The Bratton Clovelly Parish Records
Hello Ross Morton, It looks like you examined the actual parish records from Bratton Clovelly going back several centuries. Did you visit Bratton Clovelly or were you able to find the records online? If they aren't online, would you be willing to share the records? Thank you, Catherine Stevenson Garcia.

Ross,
I linked Marie to her parents at Andersen Cemetery south of Cedar Rapids, on the way to North Liberty and the Coralville area. I've been to that cemetery also.

Charipar info in Cedar Rapids
Ross,
I went in to ancestry.com and added a bit of info to the memorial that gives some info about Vaclav's parents AND about his wife's maiden name. Let me know if there's something else that sheds more light, etc.

RE: Richard Pengelly
Hi,

Thank you for that information. I have one issue with what you sent:

Agnes Pengelly 19 3 1593 Richard
Grace Pengelly 6 6 1593 Richard

The babies were born within months of each other so they could not both belong to the same Richard. From what i understand, infants were Baptized/Christened very shortly after their births so it is presumed they were infants at the time.

I am descended from the son Henry who married Ursula Vowden/Voaden.

Richard Pengelly
Hi,

I was wondering where you obtained the information on Richard Pengelly and his children. Richard is my many times great grandfather. You have written in biography that he had at least 12 children and you have three infants listed with him. How you come by this information. I have used the Bratton Clovelly one-place site to locate several names of possible children but both parents are not listed. I was wondering if you had a secondary source or if this was based off assumption?

Thank you for our time and for making the memorials for my family,

Jessie House Tomlinson #133522359
I received your edit to add a year of birth for Jessie as 1870. I have been unable to find a date of birth for her. Every record that I found says something different, anything from 1870 to 1878. Do you have anything? I did, however find a nice newspaper article on her first marriage that I'd gladly send to you or if you are on ancestry.com, you could find it doing a search for her. My tree name is under C McDermott. It might take a few weeks to appear as they don't sync new documents very often.

Thats great!
Roger is my 3x Great-grandfather via his daughter Ann Luxton and her husband John Avery.

I sadly live no-where near Devon, mum moved out of the county for work. Be interesting to see Gravestones for relatives there.

Have you ever had dealings with the Church in Germansweek? They are reluctant to provide me with grave (marked or otherwise) details. Even when I did manage to visit a year ago.

Thanks and you will have the copy in case any one contacts you and I still have my copy too. The only reason I ran across it is because I am trying to scan my documents into the computer and was working on Steinberg marriages. While I was at it I was trying to figure out who these people were, went to Find A Grave under her maiden name and found your posting.

I guess I got a copy of the marriage certificate in case I could link him to our Steinbergs.

Don't have a clue about Conrad but he probably died soon after their marriage.

I think I can clear up the name Steinberg attached to her name.

She married Conrad Steinberg in Peoria, Peoria, Illinois on June 9, 1891.

I have this because my heritage is Steinberg, though I have never been able to figure out if he fits into our Steinbergs.

They have her country as Germany but the town as the town in France.

I have put the marriage license on her Find A Grave for you to look at. I will delete it after you tell me that you have made a copy of it.

This will enable you to post more info on her.

If you can't get it, I could send it to you via e mail if you give me your e mail.
