RE: Belva J. Gage
Thank you so much for the changes you made. I did finally figure out about the newspaper article I had about Etta visiting her uncle Leland Gage. Etta's mother was a Gage so this Leland is from her maternal side.. Do you know the maiden name of Ralph's second wife? What a said tale about Belva! Is she in the same cemetery? Thank you so much. I have Leland's obit now if you would like that. My email is sayseebones@aol.com Thanks again for your help, MUCH appreciated!

Belva J. Gage
Just wanted to send you a note to say thank you for posting this grave. I was trying to solve the mystery as to why Etta Bouton Graves had Leland Gage as her uncle in a newspaper item. I did then find her marriage record and saw her mother was Belva, which led me to your posting! Thank you ever so much.. May I please ask you though to change her daughter's name to Etta? I have numerous newspaper articles on her (her husband met a tragic death) and her marriage record and 100% it is Etta.

A MILLION thank you's for posting her mother's grave and info..

RE: Thank you so much.
Interesting. I have in my database an Isaac Scouten whose 3rd wife was a Mahalia Mowers, d/o John Mowers and his wife Salley. I believe her maiden name was Clark, d/o Ezekiel Clark and Eliz. Hill who are also in the No. Steuben Cemetery. I noticed that you had also taken pictures of the Stroup. My grandmother was a Stroup. George and Margaret Edick Stroup were her great grandparents. Their son George Henry Stroup married Mary Ann Mowers, d/o John and Salley Mowers. My great grandfather was Irvin Allen Stroup b. in Booneville in 1862. He left NY with an Aunt and Uncle in 1883 by train and resettled in Iowa, where my grandmother was born in 1897.

I've also communicated with a member of the Fitch family who descends from Jacob Icabod Scouten through a daughter named Phebe Scouten.

No. Steuben Cemetery is a very peaceful place, I agree. I love the little white church next to it. My distant cousin, Adelaide Webster, who passed away last year in her 90s, was my mentor in this NY genealogy, and she took me to the cemetery twice over the last 20 years.

Thank you so much.
I am so pleased to get these pictures of Sallie Mowers. I have walked this cemetery myself and didn't find her and because my time was limited I didn't have another opportunity to find this one. I am most grateful and overwhelmed!!

Jedediah & Lois Morgan
Dear Melissa,

Thank you so much for the wonderful photo of Jedediah & Lois Morgan's marker at Fairview Cemetery. I really appreciate your time and effort and it was also a great surprise to see Thomas, Franklin & Willis' names on there as well. May I have your permission to copy the photo for my family tree files, I will, of course, credit you with the photo?

Thanks again,

Rebecca

Another Stickles
You may know of a Leslie H (1910-1974) and Louise H Stickles (1910-1966) at Sherburne West Hill Cemetery and if you search Chenango County you will find a Harriet Stickles Vrooman that may fit somewhere in your puzzle. Her obit is interesting, but doesn't list parents.

There is one point that got brought home to me recently when giving the information for my husband's obit. The information given is only as good as the providing person's memory. When on the spot for that info, sometimes you have to guess. I got his birth town slightly off and that will go down on his death certificate and published obit. I also had to guess regarding his years served in the military until I found his discharge papers two weeks later. Fortunately, I got those right.

Amazing,
You are absolutely amazing and obviously a very determined lady to have all 19 children of Robert Stickles linked on here. I also find it interesting that most that I've come across so far stayed fairly local. Some of my families really are far flung.

Oh my gosh- you are awesome!! You cleaned up the stones in the cemetery by my Grandmother's property it looks like. I was home a few years ago and tried to do a small bit of weeding but I only had a few hours to work on it. I know there are many stones buried there. I contacted the man that inputted the cemetery info but he was doing it as a project with his LDS church and he lived in Utah. I am so thankful that you took the time to take pictures and uncover those graves. They are even stacked against the fence, you did a really good deed!

Jabez Pembleton
If you cleaned the Pembleton Stones, God Bless you. I know they were readable when I was there but it was a rainy day so my photo's did not come out very good.
Jabez's son Jabish(Jabez, had 2 children Cynthia Pembleton Beckley and Ezra Pembleton b 1824 in Hartwick and died 29 Dec 1868 in Hartwick. Perhaps you will run across his place of burial? Ezra and his wife Eliza had 4 children, William, Charles, Sarah, and Cynthia. I believe that Eliza remarried, but I will do more research, seems the children were using the last name of her husband?
Thank you again

Hi!
Not sure if you can help, but since you posted listings and photos of Chas. BBeeching's grave, I am wondering if you kno2 of or have info on his mother, Charlotte Beeching, born 1831 or 1832. I cannot find anything on ancestry or LDS site. I'm pretty sure she isn't with us anymore. BTW, her stepson, Edward Beeching, 1857-1929, was my great-grandfather.
THANKS,
Steve Beeching

RE: Mary Dixon Carder
Thanks again so very much. I had looked for Mary for a number of years, and as others were, was mis-directed by that old book. Then I decided to think "outside the book" and not only found Mary but her husband Joseph and son William in Canada. So much for Joseph dying 1848 in Foster, RI.!! Those old books are lovely reading material, but so often wrong. Always nice to be able to re-affirm my findings with solid evidence, like a headstone still standing and legible.
Sorry, I didn't know you had been contacted by Vladamar. I had a number of messages as well!
Thanks for allowing me to use your photos. I really appreciate it, as will of course credit you as the photographer!
Heartfelt thanks from the descendents of Mary Dixon Carder..
