RE: Memorial for Austin Rutherford
Thank you for the kind words! All I know about Austin, the cowboy, was that he was the cousin of our family member (Ray Brink) who was showing us around the cemetery when we visited Nowata. Austin's paternal Grandparents are our lineage. (Brinks) The Cherokee lineage is: Lydia Hall Brink, Buck's grandmother, is the daughter of Martha Childres Hall, daughter of Catherine Childres Childres, daughter of Nancy Vann Childres daughter of John Vann who were emigrated on the Trail of Tears from their farms in Tennessee. The 3 generations were all listed on the Cherokee census of 1837 as well as the Dawes list. I think Martha was actually born soon after they arrived in OK. I don't have any research on the Austin family, however. Hope that will be of some help for your research! Ann and Ron
