Julia Holmes / Bedford Union
Have made changes and transferred the memorial to you.

I've been working on trying to photograph all the graves at Bedford Union, but won't be able to re-start for a few weeks due to snow and the inevitable mud of March. Will try to take new photos when I go over there. A lot of the headstones in that particular area of the cemetery have lichen growth, as it's shaded and doesn't get much direct sun.

Glad you found your relative!

I had noticed that you had left a message on some of the Watson descendant's graves that are buried at Myrtle Hill. Are you related? I too, am a cousin of theirs. Would like to hear from you.

my connection
I guess I could have answered questions too... My maternal grandfather, Irl Roy Lowry was the brother of both Myrtis Pearl Lowry Magee & Llewellyn Lowry Stipe. They were the 3 youngest of the 8 or 9 kids. They lived near each other and were always close. They were also completely wild & crazy characters! Lots of family quirks and such. For instance my grandfather always greeted me by saying "how are you boy, are you married yet?"

I'm a girl and as long as I can remember he would tease me. They had their own sayings & ways of expressing themselves that was hilarious. Sometimes no one else got the joke except them but that was ok with them. Armilda Jane Magee Loveless actually put together a book of all their 'Lowry-isms'

Becky
hi
nice to meet you! Thank you for the info. I linked Aunt Myrtis to her husband. Then I found she had a son who died after being hit by lightening?!? I didn't know that. I did know about Armilda Jane's twin dying at birth.

Do you know Myrtis Pearl Lowry Magee's birthdate or when she married Bart Magee? I'm sure I have her birthdate somewhere but as she was pretty vain it's a well guarded secret. Both Aunt Myrtis and her sister Aunt Lou (Llewellyn Lowry Stipe) refused to put their birthdates on their tombstones so that no one would know how old they were. They were such characters! I was particularly close to Aunt Lou but since Myrtis & Llewellyn were very close Aunt Myrtis was often around too.

I wish I would have gotten more info from Jeff before he died. I know he worked on all of this a lot. Are you related on the Magee or Loveless side?
best,
Becky

RE: Thank you
:) Not related that I know of unless your related to Bailey's of Montana or Rapp's of Nebraska. I'm a bit of an odd ball click on random names from time to time. Sometimes its lead me to family sometimes its a neat profile. Yours was a neat profile.

Hemelt tomb at St. Patrick #2
I photographed the Hemelt tomb and uploaded the photos today. If you'd like me to email you the full size photos before I delete them from my hard drive, please let me know within the next few days.

Also, there's a marker on the back of the tomb for Alice Johnston Hackett, her husband John E. Hackett, and a Bridget Annie Hackett Herlihy. I created memorials for them and for the two newest additions to the tomb, Gloria Hemelt Booth and Camerino Randy Fernandez. If you'd like those memorials transferred to you, please let me know.

re: Albert Harrison Foote
Thanks for the heads-up.

I made the Foote family pages on Find A Grave when I realized that even though someone had created a page for Horton Foote shortly after he died, no one was following up by connecting him to the other Footes and Brookses and the rest of his extended family in Wharton. Since family was a predominant theme in his plays, and the characters in his "Orphans Home" cycle were based on his real family -- as a cousin, I'm sure this is not news to you -- I thought they should be represented on F.A.G. (It should be obvious I'm a great fan; I've read just about everything of his that's been published, I've seen most of his films, and I've directed productions of 1918 and COURTSHIP at the college where I teach.)

IIRC, I based the birth and death info on listings that had already been posted elsewhere online for the Wharton City Cemetery as well as material I found in various online Horton Foote bios and interviews. I thought I had double-checked most of the info through Ancestry.com, but now that I have the version of Family Tree Maker that automatically connects to Ancestry whenever I open the program, it'll be easier to triple-check and make the appropriate corrections.

Re: Katie Stanley
Hello. I am in no way related to the Stanley family. I am only a local Genealogist and enumerate cemeteries as a hobby. Being that I love Genealogy, I research some of the people whose graves I enumerate and list the info I find in hopes it will help some descendants who may not have the information. Thanks for the heads up about my listing the wrong census year by the way.

I did just look up Katie Stanleys death record. I searched for the cemetery she is buried in- finally found it. She is apparently in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery (Taylor County). Another name for it being IOOF Cemetery. There is a Stanley listed there but not her. Could be that no one has walked through the cemetery and done a complete enumeration. You could add her to the listing and request a photo of her headstone. That way- a volunteer will go out and look for it. Apparently she isn't buried in Kaufman or I would offer. I have already taken photos of all the "marked" graves there. Good luck on your search :)
