|Virginia Radford||Milton Loard|
My great-grandfather, Milton Loard, is buried in Tyler, Texas. He was born in November 1875 in Alabama, supposedly to Hinton (or spelled Henton) Loard. In the 1880 Alabama census, little Milton was living with his grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Francis Loard, and his father, Hinton Loard. Milton's mother is not listed, and must have died, as Hinton married again a couple of years later. I have found a family history which states Milton's mother was named Ludie Jones. I can find no record of her birth, marriage, or death. It is interesting though, when Milton grew up and married, he named his own daughter Ludie. It must have been in honor of his late mother.
Who is Ludie Jones? Was she really married to Hinton Loard when their son, Milton, was born? Why is there no public record of her? Anyone out there have a clue?
Virginia Baggett Radford.

I've been slowly working on filling the little gaps in my family tree and came across my great-great grandmother's memorial here (# I have 2 requests:
1) Is it possible for you to add her death date? I've no idea why it's not listed, but it was Jan 3 1990. I'm not sure if you can or not since you didn't make the memorial page.
2) In the photos there is a small (or, I assume it's small, no real gauge for size relationship) pink granite (?) marker that says:
To Bill Pierce
"I'll be your mother"
Hettie Whatley 1938
Do you know anything about it? I have no idea what the story behind that could possibly be. Are there any clues you could give me? Even where you found the marker within the cemetery (I'm assuming you found it in the same cometary, at least) might be helpful.
Thanks so much,
