Hulberts/Woodward
Researching the lot preparatory to the trip to Green-Wood, I find that this George and Eliza Woodward cannot be the parents of someone born in 1870. There is no other couple named George and Eliza Woodward buried together in Green-Wood. Ms. Hulbert's parents are either in another cemetery, or buried apart. Do you have any information about them whatever? Dates?

Please make your photo requests from the memorial pages of the people you seek. Go to the pages for George L Woodward (1952) and Elizabeth Woodward (1959) and issue the requests. They are in Green-Wood, but not close to the Hulberts.

Elmwood Cemetery
Hi! I noticed that you recently posted some memorials at Elmwood Cemetery. I am wondering if you are working in a specific section of the cemetery. The reason I ask is that I have put almost 2000 memorials online at Elmwood, and I want to make sure we are not working in the same section.

Hi Debbie. I am afraid I have no other information on Caleb Wells. I just added his name after a walk through the cemetery.

Would you like the page transferred to you?

Thanks,
Eileen

Hello Debbie. You are welcome. Thank you for the kind words! I have submitted family links for Mary Well's spouse and parents, along with edits for name, dates, etc. Paul usually takes a few days to do them, so check back on them later in the week.

You are most welcome, Debbie!! It was my pleasure to help you out!! I spray water on the shaving cream after taking the photos just to get it off the stones. I'm thinking if it is gentle enough for my hubby's face that it shouldn't hurt the stones. Ha! Good Luck as you continue with your FindAGrave and genealogy work!! Blessings, Barb

RE: Fowlers in Avoca
So I couldn't quit yet . . . Went to familysearch.org website and did a search for Frank A. Fowler born 1846 in Illinois and died in 1889 with parents Thomas and Marilla Fowler. Found a marriage record for March 21, 1868 to Mary Seymour. Then census records also showed up. 1880 had Frank & May with Juno and Georgia in Avoca, Pott. Co., Iowa.

(I'm thinking that perhaps the Sophronia Mary Clapp that the person had listed probably went by her middle name Mary. Also wondering if she remarried IF Frank died so young. Wondering what you might be thinking on all of this.)

RE: Fowlers in Avoca
Hmm, when you mention the Dakotas, I saw a family tree on www.Ancestry.com that had a Frank Fowler born in Illinois that died in South Dakota in 1889. His wife was listed as Sophronia Mary Clapp 1853-1921. Three children were Juno Mae 1875-1908; George Warren 1877-1949; and Harriet M. 1880-1970. Do you know his wife and children's names to know if this could possibly be him? Barb

RE: Fowlers in Avoca
Good Morning, Debbie. I looked a bit more in some of my local indexes, but didn't find a Frank Fowler. Other area cemetery indexes I looked in were Oakland, Shelby, Hancock, Minden, and Walnut. Walnut (Layton Township Cemetery) had a Charles D. Fowler 25 September 1887 listed but that was it. In an area obituary index that I have I found O. Leroy Fowler who died 2 May 1920. Neither of those sound like "Frank."

I did find Frank Fowler (with his parents) in an 1850 census for Hampshire, Kane County, Illinois. It indicated he was 4 years old, so he was probably born in 1846. Perhaps following him on other censuses might help with his location?

I will go up to the cemetery later this morning when the sun is higher to look for the graves of Thomas & Marilla and photograph them for you. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!! Barb

RE: Fowlers in Avoca
Was just turning off the computer for the night, but I will reply to part of your question. In my index for Graceland Cemetery in Avoca I have listings for:

T. E. Fowler - Died 7 Mar 1873 Age 67 Years.

Marilla Fowler - Died 26 Apr 1891 Age 78y 7m 27d Wife of T. E. Fowler.

They are located in Section 5 Row 31. They were the only two Fowlers listed in my index. I believe I could easily locate them tomorrow if you want a photo.

I also have a listing of some burial permits between 1884 and 1897. I found the following kind of odd. There is a listing for Manilla Fowler, Female, Age 68, Died 21 Sept 1890. What are your thoughts on that? Completely different person than Marilla? or possible errors in transcription?

That's all for tonight. Blessings, Barb

Thank you so much for all your work & efforts. John & Wilhelmina are my great grandparents. Their information has eluded me until now. I lived in this area of IL & when my father passed the cemetery he would tell me I had relatives buried there. Thank you again. I really appreciate your work.
