RE: wilkerson
Marilyn, Roy is one of James Samuel's sons. I'm not sure where he is interred. Are you related?

the Rev John Johnson
oh dear, marilyn. The old history book of Jefferson County (1883) only said, "His remains, with those of his youngest son who died in 1853, repose at Salem". Not East or West Salem which I'm guessing must have developed over the Prohibition issue when Mount Vernon split.

Regardless, I found him !

He's already in the *West Salem Cemetery* complete with a beautiful old tombstone and while I can cancel the Photo Request & the memorial I made for him, I'm drawing a blank at the moment as to how to get the plain old 'Salem Cemetery' removed.

Back to the FAQ..

Good morning. Their were two other cemeteries in East Liverpool. When the cemeteries were closed, the bodies were moved to other cemeteries in the area.

RE: Philo Gilbert
Thank you. I'll be sure to look at those as well. This famiy is very large having had 17 children and moving from Ohio in the 1830s to Illinois. Most are buried in three different cemeteries in Jefferson County, Illinois. My mother always said that just about everyone in Southern Illinois is related to each other...and it's true!

You are very welcome. I expanded the area I normally fill requests in, so it was definitely worth it for you!

Non cemetery burial information
Use " Other" Burial option
From findagrave FAQS
Submitting Information / Creating Memorials

What if someone was cremated or does not have a traditional 'grave'?
Find A Grave believes everyone should be remembered equally and have built the site to support common alternative dispositions to traditional burial. This includes cremation, lost or buried at sea, and donated to medical science. Use the Family and Friends form to add a memorial using one of these alternatives to traditional burial. If there is a known cenotaph or memorial marker for one of these alternative dispositions located in a cemetery, add the memorial to the cemetery and add a note to the memorial indicating that it is a cenotaph and what, if known, happened to the individual's remains. If there is an existing cenotaph within a cemetery for someone who had a alternative disposition, do NOT add another memorial under the alternative disposition (such as Burial: Unknown, Lost at Sea).

Burial: Please choose one of the options below:
Cemetery burial (includes buried ashes)
Other (cremation, ashes scattered, body donated, etc.)

Hope this helps,

Lorraine Holzer #121740416
Were Lorraine's remains also scattered the same as Vern's?
Let me know if you want her memorial transferred to you. Are you her daughter or wife of a son?

Charles is your memorial; I cannot change who his parents are as only you can do that. You also have his last name in the space where is given name should go, but that doesn't change his parent. If you don't know how to correct, change the memorial to me and I'll correct and return him. Have a good day.

THANK YOU, Marilyn, for the headstone photo for Mattie Green Shurtz and Rutherford Shurtz. It took almost 10 years of posting quieries before I heard from anyone who was connected to her. Her mother was my husband's great aunt. You are very kind to take this photo and place it on her memorial page! We are appreciative of your efforts!
