Hello Jeanene
I just want to Thank you so much for your very wonderful and dedicated work on the Medicine Mound Cemetery. It was beyond hope to see all the info and photo's of all my ancestors. I live in Calif, so have not had the chance to visit, the cemetery yet or the museum. I spent many hour and years searching for my lost ancestors and finally located them there, about 3 or 4 years ago I sent some of my kin from Texas there to see , and visit the museum, ever since I have asked what they had found, little response for all the work I had done in locating them, but it astounds me to see what all you have taken the time to document and enter. I think you from the bottom of my heart, truly, your work has answered many questions for me !

Best Regards

Hello, Martha Walser is a relative of my husband and I was wondering if we may use her gravestone photo on our personal family tree?
Thank you!

Thank you for your work at Big Valley Cemetery. I visited there two or three years ago and was amazed by how clean and well-kept it was. The "list" at the gate was an amazing help to visitors! I would like to manage the memorials for my great-grandparents, James Andrish Hardage 83717190 and Annie Bell Moffatt Hardage 83717295. Please consider transferring them to me. I have linked my grandfather's memorial to theirs and would like to further develop them. Thank you again for your work in Big Valley Cemetery.

Winifred Young Memorial Page
Hi Jeanene,

We are still on the search for our Great
Grandfather Christopher Columbus Young. I had no idea there were so many places to look!!!! Jeanene, you mentioned adding pictures to the memorial site - would it be possible for you to add a picture of my Dad and Mother to Dad's page? I have absolutley no idea if this fits within your "job" and certainly won't be offended if you don't have time or can't do it. Obviously, I don't have a clue as to how it is done.
It is our understanding that the Young marker was picked up last week to begin the updates. We are excited about this. While it isn't going to be as expansive as the Evans memorial, we feel what is being added will pay tribute to our Parents Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. Hopefully the marker can be returned soon.
Again, pleae feel free to tell me "no" about adding the picture.

RE: Christopher Columbus Young
Thanks for your help. I know Barbara - we met when she was married to Van. I will contact her tomorrow. Also the email to sure// failed two times. Maybe they have made a change. If you have contact with her would you mind asking for her new email?
I do know about the Evans Reunion - about the family stone etc. My brothers and I are "adding to" our grandparents marker by placing the names of the children ,their birth and death dates. I have only seen the drawing of the additions but we are excited about it and hope to have it completed soon.
I have been to the museum several times. Some of the pictures that are included in Findagrave actually came from me. John brought me a CD and book about Medicine Mound. While there are many names that I don't reognize there are many that I do. I find the history very interesting.
My nephew(Rob Young) lives in Chillicothe. I came often when his son was in high school playing football etc.
I live in Lubbock... not far away.

RE: Christopher Columbus Young
Hello, thank you for your interest in our search. Neither John nor myself have done much with geneoloy per se, yet we are very interested in learning about our Grandfather's family. As children we were told that our Great Grandfather was named Christopher Columbus. A cousin from our Mother's side did research for us a few years back but as we begin to really study the dates, names etc. we realized that the Christopher Columbus born in 1866 (with the tombstone around Tyler) is not "ours". John R Young was born in 1872 so the age just doesn't fit. Aunt Mary's son (Van Newberry) obtained the most information from Aunt Betty Mae while he was her caregiver. We feel that his data is correct but there are gaps in the family tree. We have not located when or where "our" Christopher Columbus died but we do have his birthday and place of birth. We have a list of his brothers and sisters and we do have the name of his wife who would be our Great Grandmother. Our information has been cluttered because it was assumed that the Christopher C (1866) was "ours" and that led to a differnt wife and a differnt father and mother. I thought maybe the (1866) was possibly a cousin of (1872) but I haven't been able to verify that.
We too went to church at Medicine Mounds when we visited. I have sat many times behind Aunt Agnes while she played the piano. I have many happy memories of going to see my Grandparents.
I am new at finding my way through Findagrave and haven't attempted Ancestry yet. You gave me the number for Susan and Larry M. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how to use the informtion.
I lool forward to meeting you someday.

RE: christopher columbus young
Thank you for your quick response. I will surely contact Susan and Larry. John Young, that you see on occasion in the Chillicothe area, is my brother. We are the children of Winifred rather than Wendell. We will continue our search to hopefully find Christopher Columbus (1843).

Thanks again...

Hello Mrs. Stermer,
I am a granddaughter of John R Young of Hardeman County Texas, 1872-1947. (Big Valley Cemetery). I notice on the page that you created you listed his dad as Christopher Columbus Young born in 1866. My family and I believe that our great grandfather was Christopher Columbus but since John R was born in 1872 we know that the 1866 birth date is incorrect. There is a page in Findagrave created by a Mr Keith. He has entered a picture of the tombstone of the 1866 Christopher. Can you tell me where I might go to find information on Christopher Columbus (July 5, 1843)?

Thank you
Sue Young Rodgers

Just an FYI regarding the photo of the girl on the memorial for Zachariah Bailey # 62813326

Minnie was the Granddaughter of Zachariah Bailey, not the daughter.

Zachariah Bailey (1835-1862) m. Mary Ann Stowers - parents of:

Child #1 - Isaac Newton Bailey (1857-1910) & his 1st wife, Martha Ann "Mattie" (Cates) Bailey; they were the parents of:

Child #4 - Minnie Lee Bailey (1882-1962) m. John Milton McCrady

Thank you!

Medicine Mound Museum
I just looked for information on the Museum, it says it is a Ghost Town, and I will have to come this summer and visit. I live in Amarillo, Texas, and my cousin lives in Childress, I was born in Altus, Oklahoma, and my Father's family lived in Estelline, and his Grandfather lived in Eldorado, Oklahoma. I decided this summer to visit the area and look at the Cemeteries for my Father's family. I will definitely stop at the Museum, are there certain hours, or Days your open? I wanted to visit Quanah and look for records for my Great Grandfather. Do you live in Quanah or Medicine Mound, according to the information there are not that many buildings left.

RE: Mae Dora Deaton #54491157
Mae Dors Deaton's granddaughter gave you the information for you to enter into Find A Grave.
Do you know if in her information where are her parents buried? Thomas Deaton was born in 1826 and died in 1870? His wife has a death date, and where she died, but no cemetery listed. Do you know anything about where these cemeteries are for them? If she left a lot of information was there a Bible or any kind of records on her parents? I appreciate your help.
