Captain John Stephen Potts
I am descended from Amos and Rachel Potts, of Bradley County, TN. who were parents of John Stephen Potts. I have visited their graves and currently working on getting them a tombstone. I saw a note on one of the Potts memorial who are buried in Pottsville Cemetery, Hamilton County TX that you also have Langstons in your line. Amos and Rachel had a daughter Martha Potts (sister of John Stephen Potts) who married John Langston. He was killed during Civil War in Nashville TN. Martha died in 1903 but I cannot find any other information or her gravesite. Since her brother John Stephen Potts relocated to TX I wonder if it is possible she died there in 1903. However, she is on the 1900 Tennessee census as living in Bradley County, TN. I would appreciate information on ANY Langstons in your family line. Martha and John Langston had 3 sons. I descend from the oldest son, Samuel Albert Langston. Thank you. Martha Smith

Re: Sallie Ruth Speake
This is Rhalonda Gayle again. I noticed it was a picture of Sallie Ruth Speake and not Annie Speake that you shared. None the less, Sallie Ruth was my Great Aunt also!

Thanks!

Re: Annie Speake
Hello,
My name is Rhalonda Gayle Bennett Morton. My Great Grandmother Myrtle Speake Lacy was Annie's sister. My Grandmother Pat "Edrie Pauline" Lacy Bennett Cooper was one of Grandma Lacy's daughters.

I recently got interested in geneology and findagrave afer losing my only child (son) Beau Justin Spring. Find A Grave is a wonderful way to keep loved ones alive in the heart's of others. You will find Beau's obituary here on this site and I invite you to share our memories.

I heard my father speak of Aunt Annie, Aunt Sallie and their brothers through the years. I was seldom around extended family and I really appreciated the picture you shared of my Great Aunt Annie. I never met her or any of the other siblings except my Grandma Lacy.

I always heard the name Speake pronounced with an S (Speaks) and I find it both ways in my geneology research. Do you know which is correct?

Thanks again,
Gayle (g6024@aol.com)

William Rogers Sr
Hello! As I was googling information for my above named ancestor, I found your entry for him on Find-a-grave! I have spent days trying to unravel his situation with 2 wives, as I am a descendant of his son, William Jr., but couldn't figure out if "Sibby" or Mary Burwell was his mother. Do you have any documentation to verify William Jr's mother was Mary Burwell? Do you know anything about her? I see that you also have Kirkland in your ancestry - my great grandmother, Annie Lee Rodgers, married a Messer, and their daughter (Ruby Messer) married Vannie Kirkland, my grandfather, who lived in Dellwood, FL. I heard I had Kirkland relatives that moved on to Texas.

David Denton Scoggin
Elreeta, I am inquiring about David Denton Scoggin who had a daughter named Lucretia born about 1838. Do you have any further information on this daughter as I feel she may be my great grandmother born that same year but her common name is Martha Scoggins of Hamilton County, TX. I believe my Martha's father was D.D. Scoggins. Any clues about this family in your records?

Thank you,

Jim

NEAT! She is my 6th G-Grandmother also. Her son Thomas Stribling is my 5th G-Grandfather. Do you know anything about the Taliaferro family other than what is posted on Find A Grave? I knew nothing of the family until I joined Find A Grave and found them here. :-) m.g

Thomas Whitehead
Rev. John Seymour Deaton
I am doing research on the Moore family of Lee County, Mississippi. I noticed that you gave family information on Rev. John Seymour Deaton on his memorial. There was a Rev. Seamon Moore,b. 1815 GA, d. 1857 Itawamba County, Mississippi who was the 2nd pastor of Center Hill Baptist Church, Itawamba County, Mississippi. (1854-1857) ( now in Lee Co., MS) He died while he was the pastor. The church was founded on December 20, 1851. He married first to _________ Rollins and married 2nd to Sarah Maynard. Sarah died in 1853 and both are buried in Center Hill Cemetery, Lee County, Mississippi. Rev. Seamon Moore and first wife had a daughter, Nancy A. Moore, b. 1839 GA who married in 1855 in Itawamba County, Mississippi to Thomas J. Deaton, b. Abt. 1835, d.July 21, 1861 at 1st Battle at Manassas, Virginia. (From church records) They had a son, John Deaton , b. 1857 Itawamba County, Mississippi who I think could be the Rev. John Seymour Deaton. After Thomas Deaton death, Nancy A. Moore Deaton married in 1867 in Lee County, Mississippi to James G. Adams. Nancy A. had one full sister, one half sister, and four half brothers. I would apprciate any information you can share on the Deaton and Adams family. Also, do you know where Nancy A. Moore Deaton Adams and James G. Adams are buried?

Thank You,
Thomas Whitehead

Nicholas Hunter
William Hunter who married Sarah Hardy will is listed in Chowan co. along with three other people. First is William Hunter the son of William Hunter of 1653, then this William who is the son of Nicholas Hunter and Rebecca Hardy. Then Isaac Hunter who married Elizabeth Parker. William Hunter who married Sarah Will listed his sons.Nicholas Hunter who has been identify as the one who married SUSANNAH BUCHANNA in NOV, 1777 Chowan Co. He was born there and he died there. His brothers are Job Hunter who married Martha Hardy, Timothy,William , Hardy Hunter married Rachel Roundtree,James Hunter who died before he was 19 years old. Now, Nicholas Hunter who was the father of James Hardy Hunter who married Elizabeth Jane Clark never was in Chowan Co, His father is Joab Hunter who married SABRA. This Nicholas had two brothers by the name of Isaac, and William. Now this Nicholas Hunter was the EXC,of his brothers will, Isaac Hunter who married Priscilla B. His brother William was the Exc. of His will. William Hunter who married Sarah Hardy did not have a son name Isaac nor is he the father of Nicholas Hunter who is the father of James Hardy Hunter. This Nicholas Hunter was not born in Chowan Co. Now I have offer all kinds of proof here. you can look it up easly. Just like I did.Or take a trip to Hempstead Co. Ark. read Back Tracking Hardy Hunter. Called Miss. on the other stuff that has been posted. Please there is a lot of proof that shows just how wrong some of these stories are and people are not researching and passing these things around. You are responsible . Now Roy Hunter tried to explain this line to you as well as I have. Over and Over. It is a shame I mean a shame it is so messed up because people fail to research.
