Ignace Grignon
Thank you for Ignace's obituary information.

Since the obit date falls within the required 'public domain' status, I have added it to the bio section of his memorial, and credited you with your contribution of same. So you may delete it from the flower section if you wish to do so.

The death date noted in his obit does not match the date of death as shown in the cemetery transcription records....consequently, I did not change his death date without further documentation, which I will search for.

The Grignon family is a very prominent 'Metis' family. They are directly related to my stepfather whose surname was LeRoy. [aka Roi'/Roy/LeRoy]. He was a direct descendant of Joseph Roi/Roy and Marguerite Oskinantame, through their son Francois Roy/LeRoy who married Therese Le'Ecuyer.

The father, Joseph, built a home which is now known as the LeRoy Porlier Tank Cottage in 1776, and is currently preserved at Heritage Hill State Park in Green Bay.

The son, Francois, took over his father-in-law's, John Le'Ecuyer, business of running a ferry crossing transporting goods, furs & boats across the one and a quarter mile portage between the Fox and Wisconsin rivers.

Francois built a tamarack log home there which was later used as the 'Surgeon's Quarters' at Ft. Winnebago. This building is also now a famous Wisconsin Historical State Landmark which has been preserved and maintained in Portage, WI, by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Francois' wife's parents were Jean Le'Ecuyer & Ma-Na-Tee-See DeCarrie (aka Decorah), who was the daughter of Winnebago Head Chief Choukeka, "The Spoon or Ladle". Choukeka's parents were Sabrevoir (Joseph) DeCarrie and Winnebago princess "Glory of the Morning.

Joseph's wife, Marguerite's father was Akeeneebaway or Chief "Standing Earth, whose parents were Kaush-Kau-No-Naive, "Grizzly Bear" and Susan Carron/Caron, the daughter of the second chief of the Menomonee, Augustin Iomatah Carron.

Okie, thanks for responding. Processed your edits. As family, would you like to take care of the memorial? BJ

Kristina Phillips Blanchette
I'm curious how you came to add the info about Kristina Phillips Blanchette. We were good friends in high school and I still think of her fondly. I was away from Dallas in early July 1980 when she was killed and so missed the funeral, etc. Did you know her?

Thomas Chapo
Please update grave site information
44152043 is the memorial # for Selma Chapo who is a sibling to Claude Kemp, memorial # 32025025. Please add the reference to Claude's sister, Selma, on his Find A Grave site and then please update Selma's website showing all the appropriate sibling information there if that is possible.

I am trying to connect with members of the Sims family descended from Perry Sims in Nebraska City, NE.

If you would please contact me at vlink65 at gmail.

I've spent 50 years wondering about my biological family and just recently took a DNA test through Ancestry proving that I am descended from Perry Sims and Laura Butterbaugh. I won't say more here but hope to hear from you.

Clara Brainerd

Could you possibly be able to send me a copy of the news clipping you have posted to her memorial? I have a feeling eventually Find A Grave will remove it (against their rules) and I'd like to have a copy for her entry in my tree.

Thank you,
Elena (Brainerd)

Preston Martin
Gedeon Versailles
I'm researching on behalf of a descendant of Gedeon Versailles b. 1843. D. 1904. Per my research, Gedeon had two other wives (Scholastique Poisson and Anna Lapiere) and 5 children. I have not seen a connection to William until I saw this reference. I'd like to compare notes.

Thank you.

RE: A Goforth #99412902
Thanks very much for the prompt reply. I'll follow your advice.
Just a thought, if you wanted to allow people to contact you without putting info into the public part, you could always create a new email address just for use at findagrave. My wife does that for online shopping, so she doesn't mix personal mail with promotions, etc.
Thanks again!

A Goforth #99412902
Thank you so much for all that data. I am part of the Stewart family of Andrew Goforth's first wife, Lydia Stewart. The extensive writeup you've provided included Lydia's mother's maiden name (Cooley) which I had not seen before. I would be very grateful if you could pass along the source for that, and anything else you may have on those Stewarts.
PS - every time I post one of these I get a warning that it's public - is there a way to send a private message to Find A Grave volunteers?

RE: 131943972 Montague Death Certificate
I referenced the Montague memorial as I believe it was very helpful information to have with the death certificate you found. At the time was looking to find information on Mattson in Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood MI. I do have a memorial created for him 145030539 but unfortunately there was no marker found for him if one ever even was placed for him. He died before 1897 so that site probably wont have anything on him. I think I might know who he was but I dont want to make the assumption. I was trying to find more proof. Your right he was from Finland but they used their patrynemic last name in America. I dont know for sure if its him or not but the age is right at that is the name he would have likely used. Would you happen to know if there was a publication that would have covered Ironwood MI in 1892 or 1893 that might have had a death notice? Would there be a library that would have such a publication?

131943972 Montague Death Certificate
I was writing about a memorial you created and the death certificate you posted. I saw the posting for the infant Montague and a very tragic memorial to come across.
I only happened to see it because I've been looking for an early burial at Riverside Cemetery. I saw that Riverside was founded in 1892 but I saw a Montague that was buried in 1889 so I'm assuming there were burials at that location prior to 1892.
I was writing to ask about the death certificate you found for infant Montague and if possibly there were more of those and from Gogebic County and Iron Wood, Michigan in the 1890s. It said you found the document at the Michigan Public Library. I was wondering if this library was in Gogebic County or how I can contact them? I've been looking for a death certifcate for Peter Mattson who died in either 1892 or 1893 in Iron Wood, Michigan.

Cora Taylor
I got all the info for most of my posts in this cemetery from the handwritten pages of the city books. I then changed them if they had a stone. Many did not.
I changed her name per the death cert you provided.
