|Deborah Caldwell||Alice Hubbard|
I want to Thank You so much for the photo of Alice Hubbard. She is the great grandmother of my sister-in-law who is quite excited that I have found a lot about her family tree. Thank You also for setting up Alice's memorial page on findagrave.com. I and my sister-in-law appreciate all the information on the memorial page. It's exciting to get more than just dates and places.

By the way, Helen Alma Ridley Townsend married Stuart John Terhune in Nelson BC on 02 Dec 1935 (1935-09-432136, B13771, not online as yet). They must have moved out of province, because neither is listed in BC Archives as dying here, at least not prior to 1992.

Re your S.A.C. to remove Vercoe from her name:
Please check the marriage certificate referenced in my earlier message (and below). It appears she may have been baptised with her mother's maiden name as one of her middle names. Can you think of a reason why she would sign line 28 as "Edith Gertrude Vercoe Townsend" if it wasn't her name?

Here's the link to the marriage certificate, which she signed as Edith Gertrude Vercoe Townsend:
If you're not comfortable with a link, go to the RBCM site, advanced search, and put in the registration number 1925-09-312132. I can't see where Ridley would be substituted for Vercoe, but they're only up to 1903 for online birth registrations. 1904 should be out shortly, and 1905 sometime next year.
Her older sister Dorothy Francis Townsend is registered, so probably they registered the birth.

|Ima BC Graver||John Merry|
Hi Charlotte, I don't show anyone named Merry buried in Nelson Memorial Park (latest cemetery register dated 30 May 2012). There was an M J Merry who died in Rossland in 1897, but is not listed in either of the two Rossland cemeteries. At the time the DCs didn't require place of burial.
I know the records aren't complete for either the Calvary Catholic cemetery or the Columbia cemetery, and earlier burials were moved to Columbia (there were two strays moved as late as 1966, found when someone was excavating for a garage). The Rossland Heritage Commission has been researching extensively, including checking the old newspapers. Unfortunately, although BMD registrations were required starting in 1872, they were very hit-and-miss.
The Royal BC Museum online marriage certificate you cited shows John Merry as age 32 in late 1897, making him born about 1865. They were married in the Catholic church, so it's possible he's one of the unknown burials in Calvary Catholic cemetery.
I was just in Rossland on Tuesday, and don't know when I can get back there to try to check newspapers. And Nelson's microfilm reader is broken until further notice. I will keep him in mind though, and will also check my RHC friend's list of mystery/unreadable/incomplete names for Columbia.

Thank you for the corrected information on Edith Gray. Her son Archie Ridley Gray provided the death certificate information, but it differs from the marriage certificate, which I just found listed as Townsend (I, of course, had looked for Edith Ridley).
I know DC info has to be taken cautiously; my own father misspelled my grandmother's maiden name on my mother's DC, and since it's the initial letter it's a major difference!

Thanks for your permission and for the information. The reason you can't get in touch with Tonie Standley, the person who set up the page, is because she was murdered 6 years ago. Her killer has not been caught yet. She photographed and entered several of the cemeteries in the area. She is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS. It is 5 miles west of here. Thanks again! Mike

Could I use your other photos from Oak Hill cemetery as well? Was wondering if you could identify the family members in the picture on Sarah Graves memorial page. Thanks again, Mike

May I have your permission to use the photo of the Marshall's and Graves, buried in Oak Hill Cemetery at Quenemo, for my Quenemo, Kansas page on FaceBook? It is a page I set up to draw interest in Quenemo's history. Thank you for your response, Mike.

Thanks so much for providing the great obituary for Joseph W. Beery. That, along with the photos, makes the memorial quite nice. Your assistance is greatly valued. I've added the birth and death information to his memorial as well.

You're welcome, I'll see if I have any more and put them up if you would like.
Luna is my 2nd Great Grandmother, her granddaughter is my grandmother.
I do have a few pictures of Bert, I found one listed as from 1952 on my tree but don't know if many more exist here. I'll add it here after I finish typing this out.
I came across the pictures I do have when my uncle came across them after Bud's death in 2011.
I would love to talk and help us both finish out our projects.

I can find no information to support the marriage to Eldore Edward Breitbarth. If they were married 12/23/1933, that means she died within a week of being married?

|Candy Westhoff||RE: #79886875|
sorry that I can't find his name. The city clerk said it's possible he was buried in a potter's field near the cemetary, there are no markers and no names for it. The records for our cemetary are pretty complete with the first burial back in 1870. But there was also a man in the 1970's that went around to all county cemetaries in our county and wrote down each and every grave in the county. It is not in his book either. that sort of makes me think he could be in the potter's field burial ground and I'm not sure why there are no records for that field. I really wish I could help. Good luck in your search.
