Myrtle Knight Hall Memorial
Hello Shawdau. Would you be kind enough to transfer the Myrtle Knight Hall Memorial, #151133908, to me to manage? It would mean a lot as she is my great aunt. She is buried at Springdale Cemetery, Peoria, Illinois. Thank you in advance and thank you for all the work you do for Find A Grave. Dianne, Contributor # 47170913.

Thank you for making this memorial and transferring it to me. This is my husband's g-g grand aunt. Although her birth date looks like 1885 on the stone, I think it is 1865 which is closer to her actual birth date which appears on her birth and death records.

I found the Polley Family Cemetery in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. I didn't get the best pictures, as it was late and getting dark, but I'm in the process of creating the cemetery now.

Helen "Nell" Manning Boylan (1889 - 1914)
Hi -

Wow ...
Thanks so very, very much for just adding this photo of the headstone for Nellie Manning just last week.

I haven't looked at my Find A Grave family pages in months, and I just happened to be looking through a few today.

Sadly, my mom just died on Sept 18 at age 90 and 8 months, so she isn't here to share this new photo with me. She would have been amazed, because there is a 99% probability that her father Archie purchased this beautiful headstone with his own money, as Nellie had no family.

Mom and I loved talking genealogy together. I told her that her life growing up in Chillicothe Illinois (near Peoria) was like a movie.

Her father Archibald Boylan was Nellie Manning's husband. Archie's second wife, after Nellie died, was my mom's mother (my grandmother) Clara Wilhelm, who lived just down the road from Archie.

My grandmother always said that Nellie Manning and her baby died simultaneously, and were buried together in the same coffin. But, she must have gotten that a bit wrong, as it appears by the headstone dates that the baby died first, and then Nellie the following year of 1914 of pneumonia. Poor thing - she had been orphaned by the age of 11 herself. But, who knows ? - When Nellie died, maybe they exhumed the baby, and buried them together. Obviously the headstone states that they are buried in one gravesite.

By the way, the guy who originally created Nellie's Find A Grave page, John Melton, was a fantastic genealogist who helped so many of us Peoria-Chillicothe families. He died unexpectedly in 2011 of a blood clot after a plane flight, only in his mid 50's, leaving his only young child. He dug up the story of Nellie Manning being the daughter of a firefighter. He was such a generous researcher. He was working on one giant tree for all the families of Chillicothe.

Sadly, mom's father Archie Boylan ended up dying in 1933 when mom was just 7 years old, of a mosquito bite from which he contracted St. Louis Encephalitis virus, a cousin of the present day West Nile virus. It was an epidemic at the time, that had started in St. Louis, moving up the rivers during the hot summer. He left behind 5 children, and eventually 18 grandchildren by the 1960's.

No life is in vain. Everyone counts, everyone is precious.

RE: Elizabeth Evans
Elizabeth was the daughter of George & Mary Ann Wilkinson and 1812 is the correct year of marriage. Do not know about a child named Margaret. The family was in Indiana in 1850 census and Elizabeth was dead by the 1860 census. Redman's parents were Gilbert Evans and Rebecca McDaniel.
