Pre-need memorials
Thanks for the note. I only post memorials for those people who have stones since I use photos for the information. Per FG, "We do realize, however, that when transcribing a cemetery, it is not always possible to determine if the person is living or not. Please do not add pre-need memorials from (1931-present) to Find A Grave."

RE: Rebecca Dent DeMerell headstone photo
Would totally appreciate any info on the Phelps--Ira Phelps (1802-1878 passing in Prairie Ronde) who was married to Chloe Hull (1800-1870) Jan 23, 1826 in Castile, Wyoming, NY are my daughter's 5th great grandparents by their daughter Jersuha Amela Phelps (1836-1869) who married William Butcher Jr (1825-1896) about 1862 and had a daughter Ella Martha Butcher Jacobson Blakely (1863-1895). Ella Martha was born July 15, 1863 near Schoolcraft. Ella Martha's mother, Jerusha Amela Phelps Butcher (wife of William Nov 22, 1868 32 y 9m 2d) was buried in Harrison Cemetery but according to a 1989 survey, the stone is gone. Thank you in advance! RE: Rebecca Dent DeMerell headstone photo
Thank You and Yes--there is a connection! Rebecca Dent DeMerell was married to Sydney DeMerell (1868-1931) and Sydney's sister Annie DeMerrell (born Sept 1862) married Fred W Neasmith (born 1860) in 1884---I have more research to do! Will be checking out the pics you added which are very much appreciated. My connection in Schoolcraft is with the Dent's, Butcher's, Phelps, Granger and Heisrodt. PS--I am a bit confused--I thought there were 2 different cemeteries--Vicksburg and Schoolcraft--I have Schoolcraft as a separate entity in early census records. Of course-- I am not at all familiar with the area.

RE: William Alford Lewis m. Martha L. Lewis
Sorry I didn't catch on sooner. Carla must have put him in West Ostemo Cemetery maybe from a book reference? Or some source that I don't know about.
When you actually took the picture of the tombstone and had him in the correct cemetery Genesee Prairie Cemetery I went into the index for Lewis for Kalamazoo Co., MI., and could see the duplicate problem.
I appreciate all your help and consideration.

I guess there is a place to work on the cemteries here on Find A Grave. I sent the same email to cemetery@findagrave.com that I sent to edit@findagrave.com. Then I saw something about editing it here on the website itself. I'm not sure I'm up to providing all the information right now so I will look at it again later. How does one "unmerge" the cemeteries anyway?

RE: Schoolcraft
I'm glad you let me know! What a mess!! Everything is listed under Vicksburg! The map also shows Vicksburg!! I sent a message to edit@findagrave but I don't know if that was the correct way to let them know. Maybe you should send them a message too.

I think I know how it happened. I tried to explain to one of the photo requesters that the person they were requesting was not in the Vicksburg cemetery but rather in the Schoolcraft cemetery and already had a photo on his memorial. That person probably didn't understand what I meant and contacted Find A Grave about it.

I'm glad you contacted me because now I can find you again! Hopefully I can figure out how to list you as a friend! I am slow figuring out how to use some of the features here on Find A Grave!

I wanted to say THANK YOU for documenting the old stones in this cemetery. Many older stones were damaged in the storm this past Sunday in the older section.
