Photos of Willis Gravely
Hi there! I posted a couple of photos of Willis Gravely for you. I wasn't sure which one you would like best so I posted both. The one with the white "matting" is the original. The other one was restored a little by James Hankins. Leave one or the other or both. I hope you enjoy the photos. ~ SallyP

I would suggest sending an edit to Randy Shepard to link Virginia to Samuel & Geneva, he is real good about doing that. I used to know Virginia's brother in law Raymond Carter real well, I used to fool around race cars all the time until about 2000, just kind of got away from it

RE: henry dupuy reamey and elsie gravely reamey
Hi Rebecca, I have deleted my memorial for Elsie and will transfer her husband over to your care as they are your family. I don't know where all of the family connections came from on Henry's memorial, but did not want to delete his memorial. The photo you have of Elsie's grave is so much better than the one I have on Henry's. Maybe use that on his memorial as well?

Best regards,
Darrell Landrum

Yes. But haven't taken the time to compare and do updates on my tree. Thanks for reminding me. I get 10-20 messages a day concerning Find a Grave.
Also, right now I am updating the burial list for the cemetery where most of our immediate family are buried (about 800 people).

I don't mind at all; I'm very flattered. Take what you like. He and Nancy led fascinating lives and have a lot of descendants who might be interested in hearing about them. Bev

RE: Spot F Gravely
His name is Spotswood Franklin Gravely. I haven't found his or his father's grave. His daughter Elsie is buried in Danville with her husband Henry D. Reamey.

RE: Thomas helms
I will do that for you, but I read the obit and it ran on and on and on with a lot of worthless info, I just do not like stuff like that, also it takes a lot of unnecessary space on the memorial

Rebecca, I won't put that obit on there, I hate them damn long drawn out things that people put on f-a-g. If you wish, I will shorten it to just vital stuff, be glad to do that for you. On all new obits, I delete all personal addresses, such things as charities, visitation, any relatives below children, in-lawa, outlaws, etc, every little minor detail that a person has did in life, I just add vital info, it is your call, Larry

RE: Ramsey-Stanley-King Cemetery
Thank you, Rebecca. I have not personally done the deed search but have a distant cousin who has. He is the one who sent me there. I need to have a sit-down with him and go over his research and compare it with mine. I will definitely keep you updated and hope to hear from you now and then. It is a remarkable hobby that has become an obsession. Thank you again for your responses and for the work on the cemetery as well as FindAGrave. It is people like you that help all of us (fledglings) out. Good day.

RE: Ramsey-Stanley-King Cemetery
Thank you for the information concerning the Mullins family. I believe this is my William (1725-1790).

I was told the Stanley-Ramsey-King, etc. cemetery (known to me as the Mullins-Stanley Cemetery) is on land previously owned by William Mullins and the current house on the land is where William's original house stood. The pasture between the house and the cemetery was an oval horse race track. The Stanley farm was next to the Mullins farm and is now a dairy. When I was there a few weeks ago I found about a dozen graves with headstones or field stones that I had no way to identify. Do you know who they are? I am very interested in the findings of the kits. Would you keep me updated? Thank you again. Liz

Ramsey-Stanley-King Cemetery
Thank you for adding the graves to the Ramsey-Stanley-King Cemetery in Henry Virginia. I am interested in the graves that are not listed. I have been told that William (1725-1790) and Elizabeth Varner Mullins (1725-1765) are buried there as well. Are you familiar with them?

RE: Gravely line-your written bio
Rebecca, I tried to copy and paste what you posted to my profile about the Gravelys, but it kept saying that I was copying too much and it could not be pasted. Would you mind re-sending the info to my email, so I can keep a copy. Thanks so much for your trouble.

Heavens, don't be sorry. My husband does have a direct ancestor there in Henry Co, but it is way back. We have visited the area and even talked to Desmond, the local county historian. And I do have a bunch of Gravelys from Henry Co. in my database, but I just haven't done much primary research other than visiting the cemeteries there. I am interested in any new info, but just not making time to do it myself since it is extended family. Do let me know anything new you learn. Sally and I keep in contact as well. Diane

I don't have any data about the Captain part either. So Capt. of what is the question...military? Captain of a ship? Maybe Sally knows. I haven't done too much research on the Gravely clan as my husband's Gravely left Virginia and the spelling changed to Gravlee.

Thanks for the update. I have also updated Sally Parker, who is a Ben Franklin Gravely descendant and will want to have he & his wife & descendants transferred over to herself.

Thanks so much for the sample of how to get Find A Grave to do the transfers. Good to know.

Rebecca, you have just handed me some great news, not that hearing of someone's death should be good, but deegraver was not an accurate or pleasant Find A Grave contributor. She caused more problems that I can ever relate to you. She tended to just put people in cemetery whether she had any source for it. And I'm not the only one with this opinion. So where she got the info about George being a Captain, I do not know. He may well have been a Capt., but I don't have that info from my Gravely/Gravley/Gravlee research. I will have to look to see about some of deegraver memorials to see if there are some I can have transferred over to myself. Let me know if I can be of further help to you.

Can't tell you much about the tombstone. There was a notation on his memorial about his stone being broken. I am not sure where that info came from, but deegraver should be able to tell you that. Maybe there was a cemetery survey done?? Anyway, we visited Henry County on a trip in Oct 2014 and went to the cemetery where Capt. George Gravely is buried. We searched the entire cemetery, which isn't that big. There was no broken stone laying anywhere, so I asked deegraver to added to the bio that the broken stone was not found in October 2014. I am assuming that it was either removed or was so crumbled that it just disappeared. Don't think we will solve this mystery.
