the only thing I would suggest is that you contact the office as in some cases the person is actually there in a niche or something

or they sometimes they will tell you if the remains were delivered to a family member or such

Please call 650-755-0580 and get the grave location and add to the memorial so that we can get you some photos.

Or, contact the cemetery office via email in order to obtain the grave location.

Please post to the memorial or Send a Correction to the memorial owner
so that it can be added.

Charles W. Bradford
Thanks, Tari,

In "Welcome Englishmen": A 330 Year History of the Bradford Family, ed. Ellery Kirke Taylor, I found a chart that would indicate that my great grandmother, Ida Quinetta Bradford, is descended from William Bradford of Mayflower fame. I am not sure they have the correct lineage, but I am not having luck finding the correct lineage. Her father was Charles Edward Bradford, and my cousin says his parents were Charles W. and Isabella Bradford.

If you wouldn't mind emailing me at, I can send you more information than I am comfortable posting publicly.

Charles Warren Bradford
Hi, Tari L. Elam,

I am trying to trace my Bradford line and have found your writeup on Charles Warren Bradford. How can I get in touch with your friend Nancy Higginson, who has researched this line? I am hoping to compare notes and see if my Charles W. Bradford (married to an Isabella) is the same Charles Bradford. Thank you for any help you can offer. My Findagrave login is Seeker and my member number is #47453469.

Just found and posted the 1920 census with James and Edith and a new clue, James' mother, they are in Bakersfield, maybe this will help pinpoint where he is buried. I changed the approx. marriage date of Edith and Martin.

Added by Eileen on Apr 23, 2015 3:39 PM

Chiatovich, of course
From the census record Edith is not even acknowledging her first marriage as she claims she first married at age 35 and she is 37, Martin however acknowledges his first marriage.

RE: Both are right
It is moments like this that we are both celebrating that reinforces how great this sight and its volunteers are.

That is the cemetery photo. The next time I go to the cemetery I will try to remember to take a photo. Or request a photo, my cemetery records shows he has a marker. I was there yesterday so it might be a week before I go again. But who knows if I get a lot of requests I may go earlier.

Added by Doug & Marilyn Parman on Apr 23, 2015 11:55 AM

Both are right
I don't know why they won't show up in the correct order, ah the glitches that drive us crazy.

Added by Eileen on Apr 23, 2015 10:23 AM

If you want unlink her from Neil and I will relink her from my end.

Added by Eileen on Apr 23, 2015 10:10 AM

RE: Edith Chiatovich
The only spouse that comes up from my end is Martin. Both spouses are listed but only the person who linked them can go into the links and add a marriage date to correct the order.

Added by Eileen on Apr 23, 2015 10:08 AM

RE: Edith Chiatovich
I have added the approximate marriage date with Martin, because you added the other spouse and linked you have to add 1910 to that one, I can't. Thanks, Eileen

Edith Chiatovich
Hi Tari,
Thank you so much for the update of Edith's memorial with her parents. I have a special place for the family being one of the first Nevada families I researched when I moved here and Edith has always been a brick wall. I am so looking forward to adding information to her memorial, thanks again, Eileen.

Wafers at Holy Cross
Success! Sort of.
I was able to locate a headstone with the Wafer name on it. The Wafers (Sarah and Annie) are included on the Adams Family marker. Sarah's name actually appears on it, but unfortunately, Harry's does not.
I wish I had better news.
If you do get a chance to come out to the Bay Area, let me know and I'll send you a "map" so you can find the marker easier.
Best, Dana

RE: Harry and Sarah Wafer
I was trying to find information about Harry Wafer on to see if I could unearth any clues... and believe I stumbled upon your (private) Family tree! :)
I did see in the Holy Cross records that are available online, that Annie S., Sarah A., and Harry E. are interred in Section E, Row 6, Area 5, Plot 3. I wasn't able to find anything with "Wafer" on it, last time---but I will try to do a more thorough search in the near future. I will let you know as soon as I get the chance.

Harry and Sarah Wafer
I couldn't find a marker with the names of either Harry or Sarah Wafer in the location given as their last resting place. I suspect they were interred in a family plot, and their names were not put on the headstone.
According to Holy Cross records, interred in Section E, Row 6, Area 5 are:
Plot 2 - Surnames Harrington and O'Keefe
Plot 3 - Surnames Adams, Vanlow, and Wafer
Plot 4 - Surnames Carey, Kennedy, and Wall
The only thing I could find in the correct area was a marker labeled "Harrington", but I'll try to go back soon and re-examine the area.
Were the Wafers related to the Harringtons, or any of the others listed above? If you have any clues that might help me find Harry and Sarah, please let me know.

RE: William Wafer #108074561
Hi Tari,

You're very welcome.

I'm lucky the information on William was available on the SF Genealogy website.

As you saw, there is a large number of people interred in a mass site in Holy Cross, when the City of San Francisco shut down the cemeteries within the city limits. There is also another mass burial site a Cypress Lawn in Colma, under the Laurel Hill Memorial.

I hope to be able to get pictures of Sarah and Harry Wafer (I see you've requested photos) for you sometime soon.

All my best,

Are you related to the Bumps families in China? I used to work with Bev & Bonnie Bumps who were cousins.
