John Pennington
An obit for John Pennington (1901)is something I never expected!!! Thank you so much. I was not able to access anything other than the public message site so hope you get this.

I have been using Interlibrary Loan from the PA State Library and found a message in the Lancaster (PA) paper where Delilah's sister-in-law gave notice of Delilah's death and made mention of family relationship.

Thank you so very much, Rita....I'll look forward to receiving John's 1901 obit.

Just had another thought. Are you familiar with the Whinnery Farms outside of Gunnison. I think Webster or his father probably started it and it is still in the family. I am thinking of contacting the family but didn't know if you know them and if they are approachable.

Thanks for looking, Rita! I contacted the library in Gunnison and they said they have the obit in the "Whinnery Family file". They are going to send it to me. I appreciate you looking.

Thanks so much for the transfer. I have added the obit from his birth home paper. I do believe that the date of burial on his memorial has to be wrong. Would you be able to look for his obit from Gunnison and email it to me? The Salem, Ohio paper said he died 18 July 1967.

Minnie E. Davis
Her obituary states that she was born 15 Feb 1866 in Caro, Iowa and died in Gunnison 22 Jan 1927. Her parents were John Smith Marshall and Ruth J. Marshall. Married Theodore Davis 19 Dec. 1889 here in Gunnison County. If you enlarge the picture of her stone, I think you will see 1866 rather than 1868. Thanks for adding this information. Loline Sammons

Oh yes, I would love that. Just let me know.

My uncle, Chester White, committed suicide too. He is in Lone Tree Cemetery in Telluride, with my grandfather, James Porter White.

His death was just plain awful. He took "coyote poison". I did have to pay for that obit from the historical society.

Right now I live out of state, so this research has to be done online, etc. Find A Grave is a great resource.

If you go back, Sherman White was my uncle too, married to Mattie Smith, who was married to Harry Gavette.
There were 16 children in the White family, and most of them lived to be adults. Most of them were in the Villa Grove, Tulluride, Pueble, and Gunnison area.

I appreciate all of the cooperation from people when I send in edits.I don't really need to "own" all of these memorials.

I find it so interesting and fun, for the most part.

Thanks again,

Edward Murphy and Cynthia Waggoner
Hello Rita,
Thanks for your message. Here is Cynthia Waggoner Murphy's grave in Nebraska: Find A Grave Memorial# 64652974. I have yet to find Edward Murphy's grave. He is my only great-great grandparent that is not on here. It is believed by my dad that he died in Wisconsin, where he lived most of his life. On a 1900 U.S. Census at age 63, he is listed as a boarder with 9 others on Haseltine St., Richland Center, Wisc., with no mention of his wife Cynthia. His occupation is listed as "well driller," and it says he'd been unemployed for the last 6 months. That's the last reference to him I can find. It is a bit of a mystery.
