RE: Lorena Liston
George,

Wrote Kalian this week, and I told him about you.

Did someone else already sponsor Lorena? If not, yes, I would like to sponsor it.

Nice to hear about your relationship and knowledge of family.

RE: joseph sabourin & euphemia pilon
Hi George,
I am not related to the Sabourin family, but you should post the photos on the memorial pages. Maybe someone will recognize the photos and let you know if they are Joseph & Euphemia (or not).
The poor quality copy of the photo of Lottie was provided by the manager of the office at Calvary Cemetery.
Take care,
Joan

Error for memorial
Hi George, I came across a memorial that you created today, however, it doesn't have a person's name attached. The only reason I found yours is because it happened to me too, so I started going backwards on the memorial numbers and have found that this has happened to several memorials. You may want to re-check memorial #157339528. I think there was a glitch in the system. Regards, Nadeen

Thank you, George. I have a copy of that LIFE cover on his page in Ancestry.com as well as the photos that appeared in the article. These are treasured memories of my brother. Thanks again for thinking of this.

Photo requests for St. Pats, Bay City
I was unable to fill these requests because the office lady is very unhelpful about locating graves. She hates a list so I have found it easiest for the individual who is requesting the photo to find out the location. I have an index of existing tombstones that some nice ladies did for the Bay County GENWEB but that's for the old St. Pats where most burials are from the early 1900s. Sorry!

Howard Bartlett
Thank you very much. I noted there is one other Bartlett on Find A Grave for this cemetery who is buried next to that large family stone you photographed. By any chance are the other Bartlett's listed in this cemetery on Find A Grave near that same family stone marker?

Thank you.

Thank you so much for creating the memorial for our great grandmother #148455121. We have been trying to find her resting place for two years as she had died at her daughter's home in CA but had lived in Michigan. Also many thanks for adding her obituary--it is proving very helpful to our genealogy to pass to our children and grandchildren!

If you chance upon any other obituaries from the Hass or Schumaier line in Washtenaw County, Michigan would you please add them to any of their memorials as we are out of state. Thanks so much!

I just received an email from Angie Austin of Saline, she says her great-grandfather Charles BurkharDt changed his name to Burkhart without the d. She says the painted sign story I heard was amusing. I have asked her if she has any photos of the family. Anyway, this would explain Fred and George having no D in their last names.

I notice there are two parallel systems for the Burkhardt/Burkhart family. I spoke to their family genealogist, Sharon (Burkhardt) Mischakoff, about the confusion between the two spellings. She told me George and Fred Burkhardt set up a dry goods store and hired a painter to paint a sign. She says the painter accidentally misspelled the last name "Burkhart" it it was too difficult to have the sign repainted. (You can see an old photo on the internet showing a huge billboard size sign on the side of the building on southwest area of downtown Saline." Sharon told me Fred and George just gave up and started spelling their name Burkhart. I saw the census of 1870 and it shows Charles Burkhardt with his children, including George, spelled Burkhardt with a "d" and I also saw the marriage records of George Burkhardt-- on May 19, 1892, George Burkhardt married Margaret Hanson. He wrote down the name of his father as Charles F. Burkhardt. His mother: Maria Case. His father was a witness at the wedding; spelled again Charles F. Burkhardt, with a "d." In my opinion, George (who was a banker) was willing to spend the money to put up all new, matching grave stones for his family going all the way back. Perhaps it was his wife or one of his children that did this. Since his side of the family was spelling their name at that time without a d, that's how he spelled the family members' names. I would suggest that you leave up all your grave memorial sites, but add a note indicating that some of these people may have spelled their name with a "d" during their lives.

The Lady in Black
Zelma Hazel Hindson
Hi:

You asked me:

"Do you know if Zelma Hindson is the former Zelma Cooper?"

No, I don't. I didn't find anything with her maiden name on it. Sorry I couldn't help.

Regards,
TLIB

Thanks for the offer George, but no thanks.
My goal is to increase the possibility of connecting and to connect memorials rather than to control a whole lot of them.
