Steven Riller Doss, 49151600
Hi Lisa,

I'm wondering if you can tell what the tombstone says between "Steven T." and "Riller Doss" and whether it says "E. Riller Doss"? I have my great-grandmother's death certificate (Mary Ollie DOSS Dilbeck, 20673420). It lists her father as Thomas Doss (but he is S.T. Doss on her marriage certificate) and her mother as Riller E. Baker. So I'm wondering if Steven Doss's tombstone says something like "husband of" in between "Steven" and "Riller". It looks like there is something engraved, but I can't read it. Can you help me out?

RE: Maternal Grandfather Transfer
Lisa, thanks for the heads-up on the status of the transfer of my maternal grandfather. William Augnet Wilson married twice. First to a woman he probably met in Northern Arkansas. She produced many, many children for William. Then, once a widower, he met Hazel Bathchelor. I had a friend of my do an rendering which was to scale with good balance. Hazel was in her thirties, William was in his sixties...but she produced a good number of children as well. To say the least, my maternal grandmother was very fertile. I recall my mother saying she only remember a little about Hazel, and gave me a rendition of being with Hazel. Enough of my rambling. Needless to say, Mother was fortunate to have her half-brother, Dado, take her in and took care of her. As of now, these people are all gone and it seems I am "up to bat" to relate the information to others. Even some of my Wilson cousins are gone. It's almost like time has built a wall of silence around them. The years fly by, but I will still be contributing to Find a Grave. Thanks, Lisa, for all of your kind assistance.

RE: William Augnet Wilson
Thank you so much for your assistance, Lisa. Please transfer my maternal grandfather to me. I'm slowing down some, but I am still intrigued by "find-a-grave". I enjoy the site immensely and will continue looking for additional clues. My grandparents on both my father and mother's side are deceased. I will keep in touch regarding the military personnel as I can.

Thanks again,

Lisa, I haven't traveled to Find-A-Grave lately. However, I plan to pick up the pace. Thank you for asking my relative. Will this transfer require a fee?

RE: William Augnet Wilson
That'd be great, Lisa. I paid the $5.00 for a permanent memorial. Thanks for coordinating Find A Grave. It is a monumental task, but you make it fun.

Sponsorship of W. A. Wilson

I just purchased a permanent sponsorship on my maternal Grandfather, W. A. Wilson. As you can see by the poorly done "wooden stump", his reputation was tainted when he married a woman 40 years younger than he was. However, to the point. The following information is accurate and true based on my genealogical findings and oral family history passed down to me over the past 40 years.
1. W. A. Wilson was born 15 Oct 1868 in Walker County, Alabama. He was one of many children, but turned out to be the 'black sheep' because he was not as successful as his older brothers. His tainted reputation was also impacted by marrying a younger woman in later life. Had it not done so, I would not be writing this story of his life, as he was my mother's father. The W. A. stands for William Augnet.
2. Rumor is that William and Hazel died very close together and she is buried in the same burial space as he is, although this is not noted in the family history, I understand it from a reliable source, my mother, her sister, Margaret, and her twin brothers, Edward and Everette. The story was authenticated by a family member, now deceased.
3. Most of the older family members of the Wilson Family and a good number of young ones as well are now deceased. Some don't have the desire to know the family history because of the tragedies that have come along the way, ones I personally am aware of. My Uncle and two of his younger children were killed when a log truck on a dark road stopped suddenly and instantly killed him and the children.
4. Thank you for allowing me to sponsor my maternal grandfather's grave. Hopefully, this will become a remembrance of a man whose family deserted him and tragedy and distrust followed him to his grave. His death was a true tragedy. He was cutting firewood with a double sided axe and it bounced back on him and split his skull, instantly killing him. Just another reason to sponsor him because of the poor reputation placed on him.

Flag Pond Cemetery
Hi! Thanks for the note. In answer to your question, I honestly can't remember how I heard about Flag Pond, but chances are good that it may have been mentioned in a library book. There's a local library that has some fairly obscure cemetery information.

Re: Re Harvill
Thanks for the information on the Harvill posting. I also see that you posted a couple of stones for the duPriest family. Did you find those stones next to the Harvill family? Amanda Bowman Harvill's sister, Sarah married John Robert DuPriest, so it might be her family, but we may never know without cemetery records.
Thank again for your help.

Thank you for the picture of John Forrest Harvill's grave and and looking for the grave of Velma Harvill. What a nice surprise it was to see the pictures of the other Harvill family members. I thought there were other family members buried there as well, but was never sure. Does a list of people buried in the cemetery exist?
Amanda Forrest Bowman and John L. Harvill were the parents of John Forrest Harvill, Sr. and Jessie S. Harvill and I would be appreciative if you would link them together.
Many thanks,
Susie S.

I was more than happy to be able to take the pictures. Someone else must be in your family. I probably took the pictures for them. I do not remember who it was. I have done so many. I have not been on Find-A-Grave in quite awhile. Again, glad to help. Jim
