Never a wasted trip....there are a lot of field stones in this cemetery and many head stones where the writing has eroded thru time...many just rock graves, it is a very old cemetery with lots of stones, thru time, are being covered with dirt...I always like going in cemeteries like this...

Well, THANKS for your service shipmate. Glad I could be some help. I went to sub school apr 1963, then to the USS Trumpetfish (SS425) old wwII fleetboat. Finished my tour in New London as E7 Quartermaster Tugboat Captain working the subs in & out of New London. Catching the new subs coming out EB(?). It was great duty.

David - Thank you for the clarification. I believe you are correct about the Company identification on the memorial (i.e., it should be I rather than H). Unfortunately, when I photographed the marker, I forgot to clearly indicate the company name in my records and when posting the photo on the Find-a-Grave site, tried to zoom in and read the letter. As you can see, the letter is nearly impossible to read from the photo due to the mold growing near the letter. If I had only created a rubbing, I'm certain the letter would have been obvious. I have corrected the designation on the memorial.

RE: Allie Hatffield
I didnt see nay Hatfield gravestones...I know he is listed also in the Cemetery Survey Book so I am positive that they are buried at Marshall's but there is no headstone to photograph...sorry. I didnt see the Bullocks, (there are several Bullocks listed for this cemetery, yet I saw only 2 stones with the name Bullock, and the same for Halls, etc that were supposed to nearby either so that makes me think that during maintenance stones have been damaged and not replaced or fell down and are now overgrown by grass...which happens a lot in small enclosed graveyards. Its a small graveyard and I was able to view all the stones that are standing.

Margaret Holtzendorff
according to the headstone photo, her birthday on Find a Grave does appear to be off by a full century. The online records for Woodlawn Cemetery also show her birth as 1982, but they too show Preston Holtzendorff buried right beside her as having been born in 1884

RE: Ada Sams
Yes...she is buried in the Sam-Rosser plat of the cemetery and right beside her is Charles Banks, which I feel sure that is Charles Banks Rosser since they are both in the same plat, and a Rosser stone is by them.
