|Nancy Lane||RE: William Standifer and Jordan Compton|
Thanks for your help! According to Georgia church and cemetery records, neither name for these two cemeteries is "the official one," and the photo that appears on the Concord Primitive Baptist Church page is actually a photo of the Old Concord Baptist Church!! From the two photos I've found, these were two different churches, but the cemetery is just "Concord Cemetery." I'll see if I can get someone at Find A Grave to straighten this out because I know all these people weren't buried in two cemeteries!

Doing family history on Holmes family. Neomi's father Ben Holmes was a brother to my great-grandfather, Charlie Holmes. Would appreciate any information on this family . Were there children? Do you know of Neomi's brother, O.W. Holmes ?
Thank you for any response.

|Larry and Jane||Thanks|
Thanks for your prompt transfer of these memorials. I can't tell you how pleased we are to be able to have photos of their graves and the ability to tell more of their stories. Thanks for being such a great contributor to Find-a-Grave.

Hi Roxanne. Sorry, we are not related. I was doing some updating on Erwin Hudson's memorial for Wes Peet and ran across the information. I'm sure you know his wife was Mary Peet, Alpha's daughter. Kerry.

I have uploaded all the photos that I had. I'm glad to see you sponsored the memorial - I love to see a sponsored memorial - it tells me that person was very special to the person who created it! If I can be of further help in this area of Tioga County (or Tompkins Co), please let me know.

Hi Roxanne. Hazel's memorial was transfered to me because Dalena was getting married and did not have the time to devote to her memorials and the email they can generate. I took them for her so that is how I ended up with Hazel. I'm not related...sorry! I would be happy to transfer this memorial to you if you like. Better to be with family. Kerry

|pkarchs||Hector and Perry City (NY) Quaker Cemeteries|
I'm guessing you live in the Hector, NY area, based on your photo uploads. Following up two transfer requests, I'd like to raise a larger issue - and related to the confusion (re: Hester Mekeel) in the Jan 2011 post to you below. Apparently, 12 (!!!!) cemeteries in the Hector area are becomeing confused - with multiple submissions of the same cemetery. As a result, without specific address and locational information associated with each cemetery, this scenario is causing duplicate memorials to occur.
If you live in the area, please refer to the following on-line citation copied from a book discussing this confusing Quaker cemetery situation: http://www.nytompki.org/tfrnd.htm
If in the area, you'd be doing us all a great service if you could get an address (or Google map long/lat coordinates) as shown in the article associated to each of the 12 correct cemeteries (whether already here on Find A Grave or not). Or at least be more specific about the cemetry locations you documented so well.
Thanks so much for your consideration!!

|Brian J. Ensley||Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Johnstown, PA|
Just some information that may help- you may be hard pressed finding someone to fulfill any requests at Forest Lawn due to the size of this cemetery without a section/lot number. If you call their office at 814-536-0558, obtain the information and add it to your memorial/request, you may have a better chance of having it be fulfilled.

|Lee Ashmore||Hester Mekeel buried in Hector Quaker Cemetery|
I believe the above is Hester (Bailey) Mekeel, wife of Joshua Mekeel. My files say they are buried in the Friends Cemetery in Perry City, Schuyler Co., NY. Is that close to Hector? Was the name changed? I have Mekeels buried in the Hector Meetinghouse Cemetery in Ulysses, Tompkins Co., NY. I know county names sometimes changed. Very confusing. Hope you can shed some light on this.
Thanks so much!

|NJ||Hannah Mosher's grave stone|
Oh, yes, I'm quite sure it is Hannah's gravestone. The death dates and age match up with other records I have of hers. If there is a chance Deborah's stone is there, Welcome's wife, I would adore a photo, even if the stone is broken. I don't know how to repay you! This is invaluable!
The generations I am missing of this family lived between Millport (Chemung County) and Hector, NY in the 1805 - 1850 range. I am missing Joseph and Hannah's son Oliver (the only one of their five sons I know to have been a Quaker) and his first wife Mary Lee Mosher. These two may be buried separately, as Mary died young (sometime int the 1849 - 1855 range)and Oliver remarried. Their only daughter Rebecca Mosher Symonds, my GG Grandmother died in Orlando, FL in the 1930s.
I hope the snow doesn't fly too soon, but I remember upstate and I do realize it's late October. It could come any day!
Thank you again,

|NJ||RE: Thank you for the photo of Welcome Mosher's gravesite!|
Thank you for finding Hannah as well! I am still missing a bundle of Moshers who died in the area (and were Quakers) Is the cemetery quite overgrown? I am still searching for Hannah's son Oliver who died in the 1880's and his first wife Mary who likely died in a outbreak of cholera arounf 1849.
If you need any help closer to Binghamton, NY I can enlist my parents, or I can help in Atlanta. (hey, you never know what you or a friend will need!) I really do appreciate you tracking down the cemetery in Hector for me!

Thank you for taking the time to track this down for me! I can see it took some sleuthing on your part, seeing that the stone is so badly damaged! I will know in the future to include more details in my request.
I really appreciate your efforts! I hope someone is able to track the photos you need in Texas!

Wowwww - talk about above and beyond. I am so grateful to you for trying and retrying to find my family. It is such a shame when cemeteries fall into such disrepair. Foxholes, eh? Sounds like you deserve hazard pay and we need to send a donation to this cemetery for some sprucing up. You are a F-A-G gem!

I so appreciate you responding so quickly to my request! I never dreamed I would have a response, much less in the first 24 hours!
To think I lived within an hour of this grave site all of my childhood and never found it 'til I moved to Georgia. Had you not been willing to help, this piece of my heritage would have been all but lost to me. Thank you ever so much!
