Collins Cemetery
Hello. I see that you have posted headstone photos from Collins Cemetery in Ponchatoula, LA. Ponchatoula is my hometown, and I thought I had been to every cemetery in the area, but this one escapes me. I have some ancestors listed on this site that are said to be buried there. Can you tell me where it is, as there is not a map of it? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

- Kim

Sorry about not including the III. When I looked at the photo, I see where the shadow hide the III.

I also added his nick name. If there any additional corrections, please feel free to email me.

I live in Baton Rouge and camp at Fairview State Park and it was during 2 of our trips when I shot all the pics and uloaded to Find A Grave.

You kindly posted a photo to Find A Grave memorial 93586960 depicting the headstone for the graves of Benjamin and Katie Mahon Mahaffey with the following caption,
"BENJAMIN LELAND MAHAFFEY, JR. AND WIFE MARY LILLIAN “KATIE” MAHON MAHAFFEY’S HEADSTONE. Benjamin was the son of Benjamin Leland Mahaffey, Sr. and Elvira Boutwell."
Should you want to make a correction, the grave is actually that of Benjamin Leland Mahaffey, Sr. who was the son Benjamin Franklin Mahaffey and Elvira Boutwell Mahaffey.
Benjamin Leland Mahaffey, Jr. died as infant, his Find A Grave is 86813393.

RE: ED DUET
Just wanted to follow up to see if you were able to talk to one of Ed's half sisters to see if he served in Vietnam. If so, please share my email address with them if they wouldn't mind contacting me to confirm him by a picture we have of the Eddie Duet that served with my dad in Vietnam. We are trying to determine if Eddie Duet is still alive or has passed away. If their Eddie is the same Eddie we knew, we know we can end our pursuit to try to find him for the 1st of the 50th Battalion Association.

Two Ruby's
Hi - Please disregard my message to you of yesterday. There are two Ruby's - I may have them mixed up. Both were born in 1907, both are on census records from Beat 3, Lawrence County. I'm going to try to contact a direct descendant of each one to verify.

Many thanks!!
Amy

Hi, You have a note on Ruby Lambert's regarding her parents, but I believe her parents are Needum Pinkney Lambert and Susie Neal, per the 1910 and 1920 cencus record, Beat 3 Lawrence County. Have a look and see what you think. Thanks!

Annette, while researching my own Walden family, I came across your grandmother's memorial.

She shares the same middle name (Denman), possibly her mothers' maiden name(?), as my father and grandfather....we are descended from Peter Walden who was apparently born in South Carolina in 1796. I wonder if your William could be related?

No other Waldens on my line, that I've found, shares the "Denman" name, and my father has no idea why he was named Clyde Denman, except after his father, Howard Denman Walden, son of James Milton, son of Hamilton G., son of Peter Walden. I've met a brick wall with Peter....if you can share any information, please contact me....cwrevels24@charter.net
Thank you, Connie Walden Revels

RE: Thank You!
No, I don't recognize your mother's name. Was she related to Merlin Hils or his wife Jeanette Frazier Hils? They lived in Wadesboro (Ponchatoula, LA) for many years before their deaths. Anyway, I'm glad that your mom had his obituary & that you posted it on F.A.G.

RE: ED DUET
Just checking to see if you were able to find out anything about Ed. My dad recalls the Eddie Duet he served with in Vietnam to have been from Larose/Cutoff.

Hello
I saw the message you left for Jeff Smith on findagrave.com - I am wondering if we are possibly related as you said you had some Newell ancestry. My Dad was Rudolph Newell and his Dad was William Decatur Newell. Thank you for your contributions to the information on this website. I hope to hear from you.

I've deleted the memorials but someone else added a duplicate of Joel Douglas and I've asked her to delete Joel so I can get on with deleting the cemetery. Never fear I'll get it done sooner or later. Thanks for your patience and Happy Easter.
