David Matthew Higgins burial site

Noticed your post on Find a Grave indicating that David Mathew/Matthew Higgins is also buried in the Medlan Chapel Cemetery. This is incorrect. His first wife (Margaret Lavinia Clement Higgins) is buried there as well as his father (Andrew J. Higgins) and some other family members too.

However, he remarried and moved to the Reed, Oklahoma area where he was living when he passed away and according to his obituary and info from the Primitive Baptist Church, he was buried near there. So far I have not located the exact site but I'm still working on it.

Since there was a court battle of his property between his children (by 1st wife)and his 2nd wife, I believe that no one erected a tombstone.

Church believed he was in the Tea Cross Cem near there, but no record has been found. Obit says he died in Reed and is buried in that place.

Thought you might like to know. CK Welch

I have place the headstone of Albert Sidney on your memorial. You might want to connect with the people who have linked his parents to mine. I will delete mine as soon as all the changes have been made. I have linked his wife to your memorial.

Good Morning, may we please have your permission to use your picture in our family tree? We do cite both the photographer and Find A Grave for any we picture we use that we didn't personally take - the right thing to do, and our way of saying Thank You for the great picture. S

RE: Higgins Cemetery
I tried to visit Higgins, tromping around thorny woods for a good while, but I didn't find anything. It looks like the cemetery was surveyed in 1980, so either it's too far overgrown or the coordinates weren't accurate - maybe both. If you can dig up some more info on it, I'm happy to go hunting for it again.

I've never been there, but next time I drive home to see my parents, I'll go looking for it.

If I could get a transfer for him, I would link him to his Dad. I ask for a transfer over a year ago and haven't heard a word. They won't do a link either. Willard is my Dad's brother.

Thank you very much for adding the obit for Cathy and thank you for making the memorial.

OH! That makes sense! I was just soooo curious if you had the proof I have been searching high and low for. My relative that made the notation is VERY careful about her research. We lost her last year, so I can no longer ask her questions. Thanks for your response!

RE: Willard Holly
I don't remember, but I can tell by her page she is no longer perticipating on here. That's one of the big problems on here. People that get on for a while and then quit, you can't get any thing done unless you send it through Find A Grave and that sometimes takes a while at best. It is just too time consuming anymore to try and get things done on here correctly sometimes. People that go for the numbers are my pet peeve, they list a couple of intials a year and go to the next. Then they give you third degree for a transfer or just ignore doing corrections. I have been on here for quite awhile and it's really getting worse as far as people just putting in a few and quitting or like I said going for the numbers only. So sometimes you just do what you can, like a I did on this. I would go ahead and entry it under other, but have since changed computers, and now no longer have the program I used to do that. I am not doing that anymore, if I delete it father link will no longer be seen at all, so guess I will leave it.

RE: Willard Holly
I posted that way because I could not get contributor to do a link, sometimes that's the only way to get it done.

I am not related. I photographed the entire cemetery in 2006 so all of the headstone images are on my computer. Julie
