You have this memorial all wrong. This J.W. Golden's mother is not Eura Box Golden. His siblings are not Earl nor Huey. Eura and Huey are buried in Big Creek UMC Cemetery in Houston Co., AL. Earl is buried in Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Houston Co., AL. Eura is my husband's aunt and her sons are my husband's first cousins. I do family research but I try to get it correct. Please correct this, please!!!

RE: Ancestry.com
Thank you, I would appreciate very much, besides a photograph, I also have some questions for the grandson. Like I said, William Henry Brown is a common name. I want to know what proof he has tying his William Henry Brown to Absalom Rhodes Brown because according to most census information, the father of these children, and husband of Rachel was born in Alabama.

I don't have an ancestry subscription. Would you be willing to help me get in contact with this Grandson?

Also, William and Rachel appear to have another child who passed away prior to 1900. Rachel has two grand daughters living in her household in 1900 whose last names are illegible but I don't think they are Brown.

I would love to have a picture of William Henry Brown for my book..if you ever happen across a descenant, please get me in touch. How did you know they went to Missouri if I may ask? William Henry Brown is a very common name.

RE: Lulu Brown Richmond
William Henry Brown and Rachel appeared to have moved to Alabama prior to their move to Missouri. I have not been able to find them in a census there but their older children, Lulu and James were both born in Alabama. Lulu's death certifcates looks like it says Windsor County Alabama..which doesn't exist...the closest county to that would be Winston County...but I have found nothing on them their yet.

I have found nothing on their daughters Melissa or Sallie, and I lose track of their son James after 1910. He is listed as Widowed in the 1900 Census and is living with his mother. He appears to have remarried and then his second wife also appears to have died prior to 1910 as he has a young son James living with him and Rachel in 1910.

RE: William Henry Brown
No, not that I know of. I am writing the Regimental History of the 4th Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters of which William Henry Brown was a member...he was the original 4th Corporal of Company G, 3rd Battalion Georgia Infantry which became Company A, 4th Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters. Chapter 2 of my book is on the formation of this company...because he was an officer, I am giving a short bio on him. This Rachel I found buried in Ripley County Missouri..she was a Jones per her death certificate and the Death Certificate both Timothy Henry Brown and the Lulu Clementine Brown Richmond states that their father was William Brown.

I think this is one of their daughters as well:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Brown&GSiman=1&GScid=31804&GRid=111649023&

I can't find death certificates for any of these people though.

RE: William H Brown
The Rachel I found in Wayne County appears to have followed her son Timothy to Ripley Co. Missouri and died just a few years later. She is here:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Brown&GSfn=Rachel&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=26&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=141522444&df=all&

Her son Timothy and his wife are here:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Brown&GSfn=Timothy&GSmn=Henry&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=26&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=97174542&df=all&

Still no sign of Poor William. I did find a W. H. Brown in the 1880 Census living in Missouri but it wasn't Wayne County...he also had a wife named Rachel...but it said he was born in Tennessee and none of of the children really matched these.

RE: William H Brown
Well I MIGHT have found his family in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Wayne County Missouri Census.

In the 1900 Census is head of household Rachel Brown, born May 1840, her birth place is listed as Missouri in this census, she has children named James, Rebecca, Sallie, and Timothy and grandchildren named Matilda and Ora, possible children of James as he is listed as widowed as well. All in the household listed as being born in Missouri. In the 1910 Census Rachel is living with her son James. James is listed as being born in Alabama in this census, aged 44. He had one son living with him, also James aged 8 born in Arkansas. Rachel aged 65 is listed as being born in Georgia.
In 1920 Rachel is living with her son Timothy H. Brown. Timothy is aged 35, born in Missouri, wife is Myrtle aged 22 born in Missouri, they have one son William H. Brown aged 2 born in Missouri. Rachel is listed as Rachel M. Brown, aged 70, Born in Georgia. If this is true though then that Henry Brown who married Rachel Jones in Randolph Co. Georgia can't be this couple as James was born prior to their marriage.

William H. Brown
Yes, he William H. Brown, the son Absalom Brown and Caroline Vaughn is who I am looking at. I think he enlisted as 4th Corporal in Company G, 3rd Battalion Georgia Infantry which later became Company A, 4th Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters. He was reduced to Private and was captured at Chickamauga and sent to camp chase. The last record of him shows him being exchanged in New Orleans in May of 1865 so he can't be the William H. Brown buried in Magnolia Cemetery. Do you have any idea what happened to William Henry Brown after the civil war?

RE: William H. Brown
I would be interested in learning about your William H. Brown. I am looking for a Confederate Soldier who at the time of enlistment was a Factory worker in Augusta and whose name was William H. Brown. The death date of this William H. Brown doesn't quit match with the Compiled Service record of my William H. Brown. Feel free to email me.

Nancy Rhodes in Murphey Cemetery
Hi, I had the honor to locate this cemetery in a wooded & vegetation growth area of Georgia today. It was no small task to be honest. There were about 5 stones readable and Nancy was one of them. Just thought you might like to know since you manage that site. -Jerry

Warren Whitaker
I have been looking for a Warren Deloss Whitaker, a brother of Charles Arthur Whitaker, who lived & died in Baxley. I am wondering if the memorial you left for a Warren Whitaker is the same one. His birthdate was 1890, born in Nebr., parents were Ben & Ella Wilson Whitaker. He had a son named Ward. . . I would appreciate ANY info that you could share. Thanks
Shirley Albert
