RE: buckner photos
Sure...I just added a photo for Alma Buckner to the memorial that you created. I actually had taken a separate photo of her gravestone itself. (I have one for the Weiss's in that plot too, if you are interested...although it is not clear to me if or how they are related.)

Buckner @ Mount Hope
Hi. Mount Hope is buried under several feet of snow so no pics are possible at this time. But I looked in the cemetery records and came up w/ the following info. The Buckners share a plot with Bennett (d.1933) and Lena (d. 1914) Weiss. There are 3 Buckners there. Samuel (died in 1932 at age 78 in Miami Beach, Florida from acute myocarditis); Amelia (died in 1912 at age 54 in Luther, Michigan from stenosis of pelvic and stomach); and Alma (died in 1940 at age 45 in Flint, Michigan from carcinoma).

FYI. your memorial is a dupe of one created on 3/31/2013. It has the obit & family links!

His mother Mercy and my 3rd grandmother were sisters, making him a cousin but I dint think that would count. As of yet I have not connected with anyone directly from him.

Thanks for the military info on Edward. Since you are interested in the civil war did you know most of the Michigan Calvary did not ride horses but only had mules? Jan

I have updated the memorial wording. I believe the person meant to say he was a flag holder in parades for the local GAR post - not that he was a metallic flag holder found in a cemetery. So I've left that part in. Thx for the heads up.

Hi Marcia,

Thanks for looking up that information for me. I'm currently living in Australia, so can't access these records very easily. If you can email me Kate's obituary that'd be great. My email is

Catharine McKenzie
Hello! Thanks for your message about Kate's tombstone. Can you clarify - is she listed in the index for the cemetery, but doesn't have a tombstone, or is she not listed in the index at all?

I'd also like to get a copy of the index. Do you know how I can get one?

John Vanyea # 24075972
Hi there,
You asked...

"do you recall in the Vanyea headstone was in a GAR or military section? would there be spouse burials there too?"

Yep, he was in a G.A.R. plot, so all fellow Civil War veterans, no spouses or other family members.

Almeda Tebo
Sorry about those 2 mistakes...was hitting the wrong key to enter and somehow it sent the message. Regarding your request for Almeda Tebo in Sand Hill have it for Bombay but it is in Dickinson...same name for the cemetery. I can try to find this grave next time I'm out that way however I believe you'll have to remove her from the Bombay and add her to the Dickinson cemetery. There have been other mix ups with these 2 cemeteries only about 8 miles apart.
