RE: Herbert Stroud

I truly wish I could help, but I can find no additional info about Herbert Stroud's daughter, Yvonne. There seems to be no California birth record for her, so I guess she was born elsewhere. I was hoping to at least get her birth date.

Leave the dates the way you posted them. I don't agree, but others say your right. I don't believe she lived that long 94 years, and died in North Carolina. I may be wrong, wish some way to read headstone...Ed

I would try to fine the family if possible, at her age she may be alive? During war time, soldiers may be buried at the battle field for different reasons, no way to get them to american land, must move on more enemy to fight and no way to keep body until relief arrives, at sea bodies are kept unless the ship must move on in operation and no way to get body to land. During World War Two, Hawaii was one of the the close american land to take the ship for repairs and wounded to hospitals. There was just so many KIA in WW II the military did what they had to with the dead bodies, impossible to send all home. Marines never leave their dead on battle fields, they take them some place safe to bury, or send to some place to be buried...Ed

RE: Old Troy
Hi Mr, Burchfield,
I did add several names to the Old Troy database. My husband & I like to visit older cemeteries in our region. Recently I saw some photo requests for Old Troy on FindaGrave, and thought," I can fill some of those". While I did not find all of the requests,, while there I thought I's take as many photos as I could. Particularly of stones I feared might be "lost" to time or overgrowth. I found some stones out in the front left section in the edge of the woods that were down, and photo'd those. I hope I got the info right. Some of the photos were very hard to see, as some of the stones were in weeds, and slanted toward the ground. Some were too bright because of the angle of the sun from right above. I hope these stones can be documented in the books, because some of them were very sad to see in the woods, looking a little lost to time and the elements. I live in Lake Village, AR.
I hope to return to Old Troy sometime to see if I can discover any more hidden stones.
Thank you for all the wonderful work you are doing!

Old Troy
When I finish the Griffin Tree, I will transfer what I have of Old Troy to you. Norma and Jody only want their immediate family. I am adding all the obituaries I can find. I put on J.M. & Mattie Griffin. If you can take better pictures of headstones put it on and I will remove mine. The pictures show all the improvements you have done to Old Troy Church & Cemetery...Ed

Mildred A. Sparks Bussell
Hi Barry, Thank you for having the information on your web-site for my Aunt Mildred A. Sparks Bussell. She was my mother Vida Omega Sparks Buckner Wagner's younger sister. I have attached a good photo of Mildred, her husband Calvin Bussell and their young son Calvin, Jr. taken about 1933 in Arkansas. I have a couple of others I will attach also.
Do you have a photo of Mildred's headstone that you can attach? Thank you, James Chester Wagner

John Anderson Burchfield, wife & child Joel
Wow! These photos are fantastic and amazing! Thank you so very much for taking the time and trouble to scan and post these! John Anderson Burchfield (who was brother of Elizabeth Burchfield Green, and America Burchfield Green) which would make John Anderson Burchfield my husband's Great-Uncle John, and Great-Aunt Nannie. I think their son Joel, then would be my husband's 2nd cousin(if I've got my count correct). I have printed out to save in our family genealogy notebook! A million THANKS TO YOU! Your 3RD, or 4TH(?)cousin, James Chester Wagner, in Texas.

America Burchfield Green
Thank you so much Barry for posting America's headstone and her beautiful photo! She had such a beautiful, strong features! Her husband was Riley P. Green. Riley P. Green was married to Elizabeth Burchfield, when Elizabeth Burchfield Green passed away, Riley P. Green married his wife's Elizabeth's younger sister America Burchfield Green. America looks so much like her sister Elizabeth's daughter, Susan Appie Green Sparks ("Susan A. Sparks" DOD: Oct. 24, 1964) on her headstone, same cemetery - it's amazing their resemblance! Wish we had a photo of Elizabeth Burchfield Green too. Thank you again so much! I've printed off a copy of America's headstone monument and beautiful photo! You have really made our day in our family's genealogy!!! Thank you a million times! James Chester Wagner
