|Jim Davis||RE: Sarah Davis / Campbell|
I did not post a photo to Sarah Campbell's memorial because the Find A Grave rules include this information :
"Can I post a photo containing the text "unmarked grave" or post a generic image of a grave to represent an unmarked grave?
No. Please record that information in the Note and/or Plot section of the memorial page. If you are a photo volunteer please inform the submitter of the memorial that there is not a marker so that they can add that information."
Sarah is buried in an unmarked grave and her memorial page should include the info that she is unmarked. Her plot information (Section 12 Lot 299) can be added in the appropriate place and the information about her being buried next to Hedwig Gross Davis can also be added. As Hedwig has a memorial already with a photo, there's not much more you can do to make it any easier for someone to find her grave. All the necessary info is provided.
Thelma is buried next to Fermin Davis.

It's tough getting old, the memory is the first thing to go! Ignore the message about ignoring the email - it wasn't sent after all. Yikes! Jim

|Jim Davis||RE: re: Sarah Davis|
David - I've claimed the photo request but could you please clarify her section number. The memorial page says Section 12 and your message to me says Section 13 - which one of the two should it be? I've been able to locate lot 299 on a map of Section 12 but not on a map of 13. Regarding updating a photo request, in the future I would think you could just cancel the request and then put in a new request with the new info . Jim

|Jim Davis||re: Sarah Davis|
this is from my profile page, I think it's appropriate in light of your photo request
"Cemetery offices are much more likely to cheerfully provide family members with grave locations than photo volunteers, especially those of us they see often. We don't want to wear out our welcome, so to speak, and appreciate your calling or emailing the cemetery in advance to get the grave location. Hollywood Forever's phone number is 323-469-1181 and their email address is email@example.com. Please help us help you!"

The Davis family I'm related to settled in the neighborhood of North Albany (aka Limerick), part of the city of Albany, New York. We are Irish Catholic. It's possible that some of our early Davis immigrants settled in New York City first. We have no connection with any West Coast Davis's that I'm aware of (save for myself and a cousin who moved here in the 60's.) Good luck with your sleuthing!

|Heather Cottrell||RE: Walter W Banta and his wife Dola|
I did a bad thing and made an assumption without checking into when the other sister was born. I went by Opal's obit on her memorial that says she was preceded in death by 1 sister and three brothers. But the sister very well could have been a half sister. I don't really know but it makes sense given what you found in the census. I do not know when Jesse and Dola married. But Dola had little kids to take care of and no husband so I imagine she may have gotten pretty quickly after Mr. Banta's death.
My connection is via George Leon Banta. He married my Grandma's cousin Lula Cornelius. My connection to the Banta family is via the Cornelius family.

What a small world! I was one of the persons who helped start the Iowa women's archive. I worked alongside the current archivist Karen Mason. I wonder who processed her records? I processed a number of collections. I will certainly go to Oakland and photograph her grave! Thank you!!

Hi, David. Sorry, I do not know Forrest Finnell's date of marriage. He and I are very distantly related. Good luck.

|Leslie Vollnogle||Burgess family|
I would be very interested in getting a CD of the letters when you have them ready. I would be interested in any info you find on the Burgess family. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. I wasn't able to send you an email directly. Please email me directly. Thanks.
I am originally from Indianapolis. John's son Thomas did not serve in the Civil War due to a club foot but was the sheriff of Bartholomew County and lived in Columbus, Indiana, he is buried there. His son Walter Burgess married Jessica Swarthout in 1899 and ended up living in Indianapolis, they had a daughter Thelma Burgess Bishop, and her daughter was Carol Bishop Vollnogle, my mother. They are all buried in Indianapolis.
I had some more info on Charles Burgess in my Ancestry.com file on him and I have added it to him memorial.
I also just added photos to Eliza and John Burgess's memorial. I don't have a photo of Charles or Marshall.
I am looking forward to reading about Charles Burgess in the Davis letters.
Thanks for any information.
