Ross Transfers
In entering the Ross memorials you helped me more than you know. The family was enormously wealthy, ship builders and ship merchants operating from Portland ME. When gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill they moved at once to Sacramento lock, stock & barrel & never returned to Maine. I didn't know this until you located & entered their graves! Their California saga would have been lost on me. It has been easy to uncover their story. And now, thanks for the transfers.

Ross
I descend from Alexander Ross & Racilla Dingley of Waterville Maine. Racilla's father was Nathaniel Barker Dingley. Her son, Nathaniel Nathaniel Barker Ross, conducted an enormous shipping business using ports in Brooklyn, Philadelphia & Chicago where he had warehouses on land where today stands the Chicago Art Institute - at the conjoining of the Chicago River & Lake Michigan. His Chicago operation was destroyed by the Great Chicago Fire. He turned to silver mining in Prescott, AZ as his father had turned to gold mining in Sacramento soon after Sutter found gold there.
Do you know about these families by chance, or are you studying them? If you are only casually interested, I promise I am spending my days learning from archival sources & would like to use Find A Grave as my forum. All thoughts are appreciated. For transfers, if you wish, I am #47861515.

Hi Scott,
Thanks so much for the prompt edits. Took a while to discover birth and death places, but finally located death record. No luck on obituary.

We've left your note with the memorial. Find a Grave has marriages set by dates of death.

looking for Octave Nadeau
Philomene Lepage Nadeau and Thomas Nadeau
Hello Scott,
Saw that you added a photo for Philomene Lepage Nadeau, whose grave marker you also photographed in St. Hyacinth Cemetery, in Westbrook Maine.
I am very interested in this family, as I believe my great-grandfather was a brother to this Thomas Nadeau, Philomene's husband.
do you have a personal or professional link to his couple? where did you find the photo?
Please let me know if you might be able to help me continue to follow my hunch!
Thanks for posting on Findagrave!
Joanne

Find a grave have it the FAQ's not to add links to other web sites. I think I can just put it on so it is not a link.

Hi Scott,

I am heading out to Edgerly/Blake today to get photos to add to your terrific memorials - I intended to document this cemetery all Summer and never got there to finish it - I was happily surprised to see the work you have done there! Now I get to do the fun part after you did all of the tedious work! Thank you!

RE: Ina Adjutant
You're welcome. Are you related to the Adjutant's? I noticed on your blog that you were related to the Morgan's and Clark's, names in the Tuftonboro/ Wolfeboro area that I am from. I also found it funny that you are searching for your Native American heritage. I was always told that we had native blood in us on this side of the family, yet as I'm doing my genealogy, I'm having a very difficult time proving it and as I keep pushing knowledge of family members, the story keeps falling apart more and more.

Townhouse/Town Hall Cemetery
Just to let you know, the cemeteries have been merged (the admins are getting quicker - yay!). If you do a cemetery search for either name now, only one cemetery listing comes up.

Hope you have a great week,
Take care,
Emily

Tuftonboro confusion
Thanks for letting me know! I moved the memorial for Susan Astle.

I see from the post below that someone has requested the cemeteries be merged. That will help tremendously.

Emily E. Farley Smith
Townhouse/Town Hall Cemetery
I've requested that the admins merge these two cemeteries with Town Hall being added as an AKA. This way, no matter which name someone searches by, the one cemetery with all the same memorials will come up.

It may take a few days for them to do this.

Regards,
Emily

Bryce McLellan
Scott, I know you are looking for Bryce McLellan as well. If he died in Portland then he is surely at Eastern Cemetery since this was the only burial ground in 1776, but his death precedes the building of the tombs by about 30 years so he would have been buried in the open ground versus the McLellan tomb. I will post a picture of the early section of the cemetery for you, but unfortunately we just don't know exactly where he is. Ron

Transfer Request
Hi,

I was wondering if you would be willing to transfer 2 memorials to me? They are:

101639934 John Collins, 3rd great-grandfather &
101639928 Edward Collins, a great grand uncle.

I've been studying the Collins line in MA & ME and it would be nice to be able to add information & link them together.

I do not know how I did that. Must have done to many. I saved them to a disc. I will look and see if I may have just clinked the wrong one.

Yes you may use them. Some of the stones are great. Some are so bad I could not tell who they were for.
