RE: Emma Hamilton
It seems to me to be borderline criminal that a cemetery would be buried and not moved first. But this have been done many times before. I have looked for Emma for quite a while before I finally decided that it must be due to the flooding and also checked was make sure that the time line of the flood was consistent with the burial time. So if the current Conowingo Cemetery does not know where the grave is I do nothing thing there is much hope that any other cemetery would have any information. Sorry about that.

RE: Emma Hamilton & Isaac Singleton
My curiousity is up, so I will keep you posted. Apparently, it is not something the dam/power company wants much publicity on.

Just as an update, I am still following up on this. There was indeed a cemetery which was flooded when the dam was completed according to all of my resources. I will keep you posted on what I find. I am also checking other nearby cemeteries. Thanks for your patience.

James Grafton

You made a request for a photo of the headstone for the above.
The cemetery won't give me the location but if you call them at 410-796-8024 and tell them you need the lot location for your relative/family member and let me know what it is I will go out and take a picture.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

RE: Isaac Singleton & Emma Hamilton
I am looking into alternative possibilities for Emma, including re-visiting Bethesda. Most of the stones there were becoming very hard to read. If you have the contact info for the lady you spoke with regarding that cemetery, it would help.

The last of what was 'Old Conowingo' was covered by water (via the dam/power plant) in 1928. According to initial records, there was at least one church and possibly a graveyard that fell victim to eminent domain and the flooded landscape which became Conowingo lake. I will let you know what I find out as soon as I do. Thanks!

It's the St James Episcopal Church at 6838 Woodland Ave

I added it to a record and it accidentally went to you, perhaps you had requested a photo of it at some point.

RE: Emma Hamilton Headstone
Ok. Thanks. I think this answers some questions. Also, just to let you know, I think I understand the md/pa confusion. More than a hundred years ago, Maryland and PA were still fighting over the territory along the Cecil County northern boundary. So some places ended up being switched from MD to PA and vice versa. Many were simply split and there were two, a MD town and a PA town. As far as I know, there is no Conowingo, PA. There is a Conowengo, but it is much further north, by an hour or more. I will do some further investigating. We are having bad storms this week, so please bear with me. Thank you.

I am still looking into the matter and will do my best to find out what I can. There are a couple cemeteries in Conowingo which are not named 'Conowingo'. Can you tell me exactly what the death certificate says regarding burial? That might help.

Holy Cros Cemetery Photo Requests
Please call the cemetery office and ask for the grave location. Photo requests cannot be fulfilled without Section, Range/Row and Lot numbers as cemetery is too big.

RE: Flowers
You're welcome. I'm planning to do a full cemetery survey there. I did three rows and added at least two dozen previously unlisted graves yesterday. I would have expected this from the newer graves, but it was among the oldest, which was unexpected.

I do a row by row search. Expecting to find "newer" graves based on a date isn't accurate.

So I am very confident there are no monuments for the three Flowers or Mary Smith.

I have posted the already existing photograph from her husbands grave to her record. She's buried under the name of Morgan. The dates and part of her name match. It would probably be a good idea to either post the entire biography, explaining her name, or alter your existing findagrave record to match her monument.

Holy Cross Cemetery in the Philadelphia Area
is NOT in Philadelphia,Philadelphia County, it is in Yeadon, Delaware County PA, directly across the street from Philadelphia. Please add any more memorials to the Holy Cross in Yeadon, and I am sure you will find many of the ones you already added are duplicates of the ones in the real Holy Cross.

I went back yesterday and there is a lot of space between and around Betty where Quill may be but there is no marker. The office is still saying there is no one by his name in their records.

RE: John and Betty Grafton
Betty was not buried anywhere near the rest of the Graftons and there are spaces there. I got the entire list of Graftons and it had everybody BUT Aquilla. I just asked for last name Grafton.

I will go back today as I have another elusive site to find. It is much like "figure out the puzzle" on some of these searches. I wish I could get into their database and do my own search for info...back to you later

John and Betty Grafton
I found their grave and pictures have been applied.

I resubmitted a request for "all" Graftons at Meadowridge, may be a day or two before I hear.

RE: Raymond & Quill
I put a Robert James Grafton into the mix, is he related?

Added by LindaP on Mar 15, 2015 9:28 AM

RE: Grafton
They verified that there was no Raymond.

Perhaps they are under their birth names. Usually they will put the name they are known by in between "Quill" but as an official marker they use birth certificate names. Let me know what they are and I will go back and check.

Dear Dorothy,
I agree my memorial has been duplicated, however mine was created in 2006, another in 2009, and yours in 2012. So mine is the original and not a duplicate, yours is. I'm not deleting mine. You can update mine with additional information.

RE: John Ziegler,Jr.
You are quite welcome, Dottie. If you click on the photo of your cousin's grave marker you will find my notation with the exact location within Lake View Memorial Park in case you are able to visit one day. The other photos have notes as well and may serve as landmarks to help locate him. I also posted photos (with notes) for John Sr. and Leo Sr. since they are all resting together. I'll check the sites periodically and when permanent markers are placed I'll photograph, repost and send you an email. I'm so sorry for your loss. Best regards, Jan

RE: grave photos
You are very welcome. I always try to include family members even though the request was just for one person. I know how it is to not know where a loved one was laid to rest.

Have a great day! Linda
