|jo dobbins||RE: zella edna peters|
do you want me to go buy those other pictures that were all found in the same group? If so, I will do so tomorrow while out. AFter that, I won't be in that vicinity for a while -- It's all the way on the other side of Charlotte and into the neighboring county! But if you want the pictures, I will be glad to make the trip tomorrow. If so could you text me at 980-875-7358, or call me on that number before 11:00 a.m.?
The other pictures did not have names on them but the owner said they were all from the same "batch" and probably belonged to the same family
These two pictures were $2 each and I can probably talk her into $2o r less per picture. I guesstimate 7-8 more pictures.
Then mailing costs?
I love to rescue ancestors for people!
Glad I found a descendant. She was a pretty young girl -- with her dark thick hair in a pompadour,pulled back with a big bow. A high neck white blouse. A beautiful "pocketwatch" pinned to her blouse and a locket around her neck.
Was there a Gaston Church in the area at some point?

I rescued a picture today in Charlotte NC of a
Zella Edna Peters, taken when 14years old. Don't know if this is the same as in this cemetery.
The professional photo was taken in Van Wert Ohio .
If you know family, there were others at the antique store that came from the same "batch" that could be rescued.
I also rescued from that batch a picture of a Reverend Rommel of Gaston Church. I'm not good at guessing time periods from clothing, etc.-- but maybe 1870-90?

|Jesse M.B. HughesMacArthur||RE: William Jones|
It's a very good question. I for the longest had William T. Jones. All four census records I have list him simply as William Jones. Both Death Records that I have do state William T. Jones. The tombstone says W.M. Jones as you know. I also know that I did get the Melton from somewhere, but don't have all my records with me. His Grandson (The brother of my Grandmother is William Melton Creekmore, however; my Great Uncle William Melton Creekmore [& My Grandmother] Also have a grandfather named William Melton Creekmore (1870-1908) who was married to Louvicy Jane Cox. So the name of my Great Uncle could obviously have come from the Creekmore side of the family. I am more inclined to think that William T. Jones is correct and would love to know what the T. stands for.
Also on the only 2 census records I find her in & on both death records "Permelie Lee Oliver" is listed as Permelia Lee Oliver which makes more sense than essentially PermaLEE LEE Oliver. I think the headstones may be inaccurate, and then people get information from them, and pass it around. I have some ideas, I'll have to look into first, do you know if there is someone still upkeeping the cemetery or archiving records there?
Also I just gave a quick review of records and will need to look much further into it myself. The only record I have of any kind regarding Ambrose & Elizabeth is on the death certificate you mentioned. I've found no other record, including records of Moses B. I did just look over some family trees just for reference and found a Moses Bennett Jones Married to an Elizabeth Meadors, I have no siblings for William Jones so I wouldn't know where to look as of yet for if Margaret married a brother of William's. I will have to look into it further. Are you saying you don't know the spouse, your 2nd Great GrandFather's name as of yet? Also can you guide me to any records of Moses B. Jones & Margaret Peggy Meadors? It does seem we would be kin though doesn't it. I look forward to hearing from you & again thank you for all the work on the memorial ~~

Hi, I checked and the cemetery records I do not see either Ida or Emma Reed. Is Reed their maiden names and do you have a married name, or possibly thier husband's names?

I am glad they are with their family. I just didn't want for them to be a memorial without that. I do have the newspaper clipping from the accident and I am almost positive that I have pictures of them amongst family photos.
I never knew that Lupe & Zella divorced before the accident. Lupe & Zella were friends with my grandparents Barnes (Memorial #39078486) & Ilene (Memorial #94990626) before the divorce. Barnes & Lupe worked at Gould together. My grandfather died Feb. 16 1967. Lupe & my grandmother were married after that.
I wish I would have known more about them. I didn't start being really involved in the family history until after my grandmother's stroke several years ago. She died August 2nd. She had very hazy recollections after the stroke, but she talked about Zella frequently. Her dementia took her back to early days in her life, frequently.
I will go through my things and find what I have. Thank you so much for responding.

They have a Howard Family reunion the last weekend in September at the Pine Mountain Settlement School. One of the relatives has done a lot of research and printed a book. Where do you live in Ohio I live near Canton. We are cousins of some sort I am sure. I do have more photos of howards not sure where they fit in. May wait till I get back to ohio to post them.

I also live in Ohio but my in laws live in Bledsoe Ky. I was on my way to Flordia for a visit and saw your request. My husbands family is related to the Howards. Their Great grand father was Adron Anglin Howard. So taking Howard photos was a pleasure. Barb

Thanks for the photo of the tombstone for William Whitley. I've always wanted to see this cemetery but it is hard to find! Is there a road leading to it or do you have to cross a field to get there?

Thank you for putting your beautiful shot of this headstone on my great-great grandmother's memorial. I was only there once (before the internet) and I took a quick, not too pretty snap shot of the headstone and later I was embarrassed to put it on here. Your's is a wonderful addition. Samantha
