RE: Woodfin transfers
You're right about much better documentation. When the Mormons did the documentation of Bates County Cemeteries for the book at the Butler Public Library, they missed some visible stones in some cemeteries; when they printed the book, they didn't proofread for spelling errors; and they didn't get all of the cemetery book listings. Oak Hill for example, has had many flat stones uncovered since then in different areas that they didn't know about. Last year, I updated the cemetery records for the City of Butler and took pictures of every visible stone in Oak Hill. All photos, where needed, were added to memorials al ready started in Oak Hill. Even then, I had to added 1500 plus memorials on Find A Grave for Oak Hill. I, also, listed some 1200 graves that have no stone at all (about 8% of the burials in Oak Hill. Since that time, the Butler Public Library genealogical department has decided for using Find A Grave for referring people to when doing genealogical research for Bates County. Family History Center was working on their own new website that is supposed to have all of the info of all 104 plus cemeteries in Bates County done & up to date, but it had been a slow process for them. I have donated all of my 18K plus pics I took last year around Bates County to them, but Family History Center is short of funds & volunteer help to get the project done. So, eventually, I think they will rely on Find A Grave since they know now that has bought them out. There is a lday that has already documented and photo'd Scott Cemetery & has a book at the library & says she will keep that cemetery up to date. That's what is needed all around the county. Since 1980, the cemeteries that have more than doubled in size are Oak Hill, Crescent Hill, Green Lawn, & Hume.
I recently got Hume done. And Stacy Hutton has walked all of Crescent Hill to make an updated book for the Butler library.

RE: Woodfin transfers
You're very welcome! The reason I went over to photo them was to help out the library genealogical dept. & Family History Center. Would you like memorials also for Independence & Salem? Sorry to hear about your disability. Life is tough & none of us know how we are going to turn out.

Just shoot me the names by private email and I will give a shot! I would love to have any and all memorials you have created for Isreals family. Thanks so very Much!!

Ruth M Warren
Hi has been a while since I have talked with you. I just wanted to say thank you for Ruth's memorial. She is Orlando Manlove's daughter. The M on her headstone is for Manlove. Ruther Manlove Warren. It is really cool to finally be able to link everyone together. Are you doing the cemetery thing again? You had started a new job the last time that I talked with you & said you weren't doing much of it, as you had to go back to work.

Write me back & let me know how you are doing. God Bless!

I read your Bio on this site and want to say I look forward seeing the results of your project. (transcription of Woodfin Cemetery in Walnut Township)I have been looking for the grave of my great grandfather for many years (have given up most hope of finding a marked grave) He lived in the Foster area until around 1899. He died in 1901.
Just wanted to say that volunteers like you are what makes genealogy so great!

Carrie and Alma Coureton memorials
Good morning. Will you, pretty please, add your photo of the entire headstone on memorial 8217608 to memorial 76328550, which I just created?

Bless you for your work on Woodfin Cemetery. That cemetery is in extremely sad shape. Dead wood is everywhere and more is going to come down and damage more headstones.

I live in Kansas City and am not familiar with Rich Hill area. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the cemetery better cared for or to get dead wood trimmed and removed?

(I tried to get the folks at the Development Center in Rich Hill to get the boys to the cemetery with rakes, etc. I suggested roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over bonfires of dead wood. They ignored everything I said.) Best wishes
