TYVM for helping me find the information on my great-great-great grandfather. How did you find it, and is Mary buried there also?

Joseph Drake #51861336
Aloha and I am a direct descendant of William Drake of Wayne County New York, who, died in Michigan in 1847 and was born 30 Nov 1784. William was granted a patent deed in Michigan in 1837. I am pretty sure his father was the Joseph Drake buried in Lower Mongaup Cemetery: Find a Grave 51861336. I believe this because a "Joseph Drake The Second" was granted a patent deed in Michigan next to that of William just 4 days earlier.
William's probate file shows but one child, Joseph, my GGGrandfather born in 1810, not a second Joseph.
My theory is that Joseph the Second was a brother of William, and gives credence to Joseph the Seconds and William's father being a Joseph, Joseph the First?. However, the Find A Grave site for Joseph mentions siblings but no children, neither a William nor a Joseph the Second.
Any light on this would be terribly appreciated.

David McNeely grave, Cochecton, NY
Hi Peter -

I may have contacted you a few years ago and am finally back to working on my genealogy. Could you please tell me where you found the information on David McNeely's parents? I didn't have their names before and can't find any references on the major genealogy websites.

Many thanks,
Priscilla Glasow

RE: Daniel Pierce obituary
Hi Peter,
Thanks! I will contact the town clerk and see what I can find. The obituary you sent was pulled directly from Daniel Pierce's Sycamore, IL, obituary, but thank you for introducing me to the Republican Watchman from Monticello, NY. I've been searching through it all day. I found articles about Daniel Pierce's 1898 donation to Grahamsville to build a library in his name, and his subsequent trip east to visit his old haunts in 1900. Cool stuff.

John P. Pierce
Hi, I am researching another son of Joseph Pierce and Elizabeth Cargill, Daniel J. Pierce. I have never been able to find information on his siblings other than their names (Catherine, Nelly, Polly, William, and John). The John P. Pierce you have created a page for appears to be his brother. How exciting! Do you have documentation showing the connection of John P. to his parents. I also have not been able to trace the Pierce line beyond Joseph, though I have found a few ancestors of Elizabeth. Thanks!

Elizabeth Drake
I am a descendant of Joseph Drake and Elizabeth Jones. Another descendant was there in the 90's
and noted a different age on Elizabeth's stone. Our family records agree with her age which was 79 not 69. Is there anyone who could take a look for us?

RE: Davis Justin
Thank you Peter for all the time and energy you put into helping out of state people like myself find info on their Sullivan Co ancestors.
A friend told me there are cemeteries in Sullivan Co where the inscriptions are in German. Maybe Davis Justin/Justen is in one of those cemeteries.

I've been hunting for more information on Davis Justin and his brothers for quite a while. I could only find Davis Justin/Justen in the 1870 US Census for Sullivan Co.

Do you know where I could get a map of Sullivan Co with all the townships listed along with villages, cities, roads, etc. without paying an arm and leg?

Otsego Co put out a free map of the county listing all the cemeteries and their location. Sure wish Sullivan Co and surrounding counties would do the same.

Do you correspond via Email or just thru FindAGrave?

PS BTW, Happy New Year

Sullivan Purcell
RE: Fulton History site
Hi Peter - I can't stay away! Actually, I can't resist adding obituaries when I come across them while doing research and the Liberty Register published so many. And of course, obituaries lead to edits... Speaking of edits, do you know who liberated the Kiersted-swan cemetery? I was happy to see that it was finally listed separately.

Thanks for the info on The PJ Gazette! We were back in NYS during the summer and I actually stopped at the PJ library to copy obits. They have a nice obituary name index for the microfilm of the paper. I wished I had more time to spend there, so your information is a great boon.

Gray's Cemetery - Fallsburg
Hi Peter, I did some online research and it appears that the Sullivan County Potters field in adjacent to Gray's cemetery. Do you know if this is true? Henry Hughes was at the Sullivan County Farm for the last summer of his life. From the records I found it appears that the caretakers did not know he had two sisters living Westchester County.

And thank you for this hint on fixing my page - it worked. Pat

Ken Margison
RE: Margison
Thanks- I found them last night! Ezra and his family. I've contacted the person who listed them. One is listed as Albert L Margison, but his name was Abram. Ezra's birth year bounced around between 1814 and 1818 from the census' so it's nice to find a concrete date to go by.

Gray's Cemetery - Fallsburg
Hi Peter, I heard from the town of Fallsburg. The burial permits start in 1931; since Henry Hughes died in 1916 this is a dead end. The town clerk said there is no caretaker and that the cemetery is not affiliated with a church.
Thank you for all your help with this - I appreciate your assistance.

Gray's Cemetery - Fallsburg
Hi Peter, I spoke with the town clerk at Fallsburg. It turns out that they have burial permits so they may be able to tell me the location of Henry Hughes' grave in Gray's Cemetery. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks again for all your help. Pat

RE: Gray's Cemetery - Fallsburg
Hi Peter; thank you for the link. I found the obituary about a week ago! I have been looking for it for about 2 years now. It confirms that this was the correct Henry Hughes as James Moore was his nephew.

I sent a note to the Fallsburg Town Clerk to see if they know who would have the cemetery records. I'll let you know if I find the record holder.

Appreciate your help and thanks again for the link. Pat
