RE: Smith Cooper Humphries
Transfering the memorial is unnecessary because I am not related in the least. I was just helping with posting photos that I had found to the respective memorials that didn't have them. Thanks for the suggestion. Wished other contributors would view it that way as well. I have a great aunt that I wanted to join with the rest of the family and was pertinently told that 'they' will have to keep them with their county geneology. Boy, that just boiled me. All of sudden, it is like one isn't able to keep their own history...some unknown person or group thinks that it is theirs. I am reminded of the kid 'fish movie' (can't recall the title) where the seagulls were all hollering, "Mine, mine, mine"...Ha, ha

Smith Cooper Humphries
Just added a photo of Smith Humphries. It looks like it is from a newspaper so it isn't that good. However, some of his kin may come around to this memorial and 'see' it for the first time. If you prefer not to have this photo posted because it is so grainy or for any other reason just let me know.

RE: John Melvin Gamel
Thank you very much for your lovely message. I enjoy it very much when others feel comfortable enough to share a bit of their own life story. I found it rather interesting. I never had much of a chance to study cemeteries as a child, but there was a funeral home between my home, church and my grade school, which I had to walk past almost daily. I use to go up stairs where the owners lived and they would give me cookies and milk. I grew up only having one living Grandparent so I was always attracted to older people that treated me as their own grandchild. Anyway, I loved to listen to stories of the deceased lives which were always filled in with events, family and friends that also lived near me. I don't think there was a living soul in town that I didn't learn something about by the age of 7. The main thing I enjoy most about creating memorials is doing the research and making them as personal as possible by providing as much information concerning their families and life. Everyone has a story, and I do enjoy reading about other peoples lives. Sorry this was so long, but your comment concerning studying the headstones at the cemetery your Daddy worked at, make me think of this childhood memory. I guess I was sort of a weird kid, looking back. LOL! Take care and thank you for the memorial transfer. :)

Jayne Palmer
John Shelton Palmer
I am Jayne Palmer in Anthon, IA. I was born and raised in Tekamah, NE. I'm hoping you can help me straighten out some of these palmers.
My father is Jerry Charles Palmer - Tekamah
Grandfather is Lloyd Dallas Palmer - Tekamah
Gr-Grandfather is John Burton (Bert) Palmer - born in Elsberry, MO and died in 1962, buried in Tekamah, NE. From there I have a variety of names: His father could be John Sheldon or Shelton Palmer - mother could then be Mary Helena Stephens Palmer.
I really have no documentation to tell me anything about John Burton's parents. Hope you can help.
Thanks, Jayne

I am searching for a Oliver Clayton Womack from Kentucky.
He was a preacher.
I am told he raised my great grandmother after her mother died. (Susie Mae Cobb)

Do you research the Womacks

RE: Kate Childs Waggoner

If you're related to Kate Childs Waggoner, you're probably as closely related to her as I. I usually ask for transfers only when someone unrelated appears to have added entire cemeteries. I'll leave that choice to you. I don't have any additional info to add specifically for Kate.

Caleb was buried in one of the original graves in the very front of the cemetery. Most of the adjacent plots are unmarked, but I'm guessing several are occupied by Childs from the late 1800's. There are a couple other Childs graves close by that I photographed but haven't added yet, but no gravestones for either of his wives.

The church ( was established in 1867, six years before Kate's mother (Sophronia Bacon Childs) died, so there's a good chance she's there. We would have to check the cemetery records to find out. I have a great-grand aunt (Blanche Watson) to ask about at some point, too.

Visiting that cemetery was like a family reunion without the ruckus -- almost everyone there is an ancestor, a cousin, or a cousin of one of the above.

RE: Grace Ethel TURNER
Hi, Martha! Done!

My apologies for the delay. I was on a vacation overseas. I've been back for a week but haven't had a chance to catch up on anything!

Mrs. Turner was one of my teachers and I loved being her student. She was kind and seemed to love her students, and was an outstanding teacher. I remember her directing us in reciting the poem "The Last Snowfall" by James Russell Lowell on closed-circuit TV for the whole school to watch. I thought she was so "cool" for putting us on TV!

I presume you are a relative and if you would like for me to transfer her memorial to you I would be glad to do it. Just let me know!
