Alphonso H Badger
1846-1865, he was with the 1st. Vt. Cav. Co. D. He was my 2 times great-grandmother Josephine (Josie) "Badger" Luther's brother. I'm wondering if his grave stone is a cenotaph or is he actually buried there. So young. I have another relative who is buried in a trench grave with many others, he was not a Badger, James Parsons is on another side of my family. Several of Alphonso relatives were in the Civil War are buried in Pine Hill. Timothy Blake
I just wanted to send out a big thanks to you for finding a grave and posting a photo of the cemetery, for Lieutenant Timothy Blake in South Strafford. I never dreamed that I would ever see a photo of where Timothy ( my 5x great grandfather) was buried.

I lived in Vermont for 30 years, but it wasn't until after we moved that I began to get interested in genealogy. I have been to Strafford many times, but never knew I had an ancestor who lived there. I am assuming that Timothy's wife, Susannah Morrill Blake, is buried there also, but I cannot find a death record for her.

So, thanks again for adding Timothy to Find a Grave. Your time in researching, and sharing, these old cemeteries is very appreciated!

Hi Joie, I apologize I got the Ezras backwards. I should have sent it to the one create in Nov. and not yours. I will send it to Admin to merge as the other person is inactive. Glad you caught that and again sorry. Denise.

Alvah Judd
Hi Joie;
I saw this headstone and I saw that someone else had also taken the same photo but they have listed unknown name...
I know that it is very difficult to make it out, but I was wondering if you have tried doing an impression of it. Kind of going back as kids when you take a paper and cover it and then lightly scribble/color over it and see if the name and dates come out? I am really, really curious if this really is Alvah Judd. If so, that would be awesome because I can't find any documentation one when he died and he was my 6th Great Grand Uncle. 'Thank You'.

That is truly amazing that you found all of these stones still intact.Good for you for getting them as they probably will not be there much longer.
I sent you a bunch of edits. They are not mine.I just thought that one was.So one thing led to the other.

Blake's Gore Settlement
Hi, Joie. Glad to have come upon your profile through a picture of Timothy Blake's wife Mary Blake.

I am descended from the youngest daughter of John Henry and Heborah Theodata Camber, who were part of the Blake's Gore Homesteaders in Strafford in 1787. They were my 4th Great Grandparents.

The Cambers subsequently moved to Stanstead, Quebec, Canada but have a significant history in the development of Vermont and Strafford.

The Cambers children all moved to Stanstead with their parents with the exception of Polly Camber, who married Stephen Place and stayed in Vermont.

I had the pleasure of visiting Strafford last Wednesday and visited the Strafford, Zebulon Flanders and Robinson Cemeteries. Didn't learn anything new on the Cambers, since they moved from the area, but it was a great time tracing their roots and place in Strafford and Vermont History.

I am researching the backgrounds of the 14 families that came with Timothy Blake and built Homesteads in Blake's Gore, in hopes that I will find more information on the origins of John Henry Camber.

Again, great to have found your Find a Grave profile and maybe I can pick up a bit more of my personal history by following your discoveries. If not directly, indirectly.

I have a question concerning the grave of Anna Morris. Could this possibly read Norris instead. In that grave yard is a Moses Norris # 59380465 who had a wife named Anna and I thought perhaps since the stone was not really clear that it could possibly be hers. Could you check your photo to confirm. Thank you for all of your work in photographing the grave stones.

Levi Lowell
Hi Joie,

Prior to my becoming a member of findagrave.com, I uploaded a photo of my 3rd great grandfather's marker from another family tree on ancestry.com. When I became a member, I learned that I ought to have asked permission of the photographer before using the photo.

Therefore, this is a very belated request to be able to use a copy of his photo in my ancestry.com family tree (#5291693). I will be sure to update the caption under the photo that will give you proper credit for having taken it.

By the way, I am a married, retired social worker as well. I worked in the public Child Welfare field for 41 years in various capacities and was also a clinical social worker in a mental health clinic for 5 years after my retirement from the State agency. (I also did a 4 year part-time stint at the same mental health clinic back in the mid to late 1980's when I needed to work 2 jobs.)

Please accept my belated thanks for taking a photo of Levi's marker.
