RE: Norma J Darling
I wasn't the one who entered the parents names but you can make your changes by going to the memorial and clicking on the upper right Edit button and make them yourself.

RE: Virgil and Myrtle Acord
Hi Carolyn,

I was glad to hear from you. Yes, I knew both Myrtle and Virgil before they were married. I was born in 1946 and my Daddy was good friends with Myrtle's Daddy, his name was Jim Curtis. When I was a little girl in the 1950's, Myrtle lived with us for a year or two and helped my Mom take care of us kids. At that time, Virgil lived down the alley from us in a little garage house and he and Myrtle got to know each other and got married. I didn't know much about Virgil, whether he was married previously or had children. I know that they had a son and two girls, it seems to me that the girls were twins, but I might be wrong about that. I remember one girl was named Sally (I think), my memory is not so good at times. I want to say the other girl was named Diane, but that might not be right. I can't remember what the son's name was, I never met any of their kids personally. I lost track of Myrtle for many years and then I found out she was a resident of a nursing home here in Muncie so I went and started to visit her quite a bit and I would take her little gifts and she was so happy. I remember she had a brother named Roy Curtis and a sister named Ruby Curtis and I don't recall what her mother's name was. But Myrtle got sick and was in the hospital and I went to visit her a couple of times and then she passed away. I thought a lot of her, she was a sweet woman. Her nephew, Jimmy Campbell, and his wife and I went out to the cemetery after she was cremated and they said we could bury her in the grave with Virgil, so we did that, because she didn't have any insurance. I go to visit her grave sometimes and I decorate it here on Find A Grave.

Would be interested in a note when you have your Chance book completed. Ezekiel Chance was my 5th great grandfather. Thanks! (We have corresponded before)

John Martin
Lura Marsh Jenks
Hello Carolyn, I saw your message on Elaine Wilkerson's message board about Lura Marsh Jenks. I have just learned that my great-grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Jenks Moore, was apparently one of her daughters. I recall my mother talking about the Potts children, but I never really understood the connection until today when I read the bio. information on Samuel Jenks. Now it makes sense, that apparently Lura was his second wife and the Potts children were from her first marriage. Fascinating! Before her passing, my mother was interested in working on her Moore family history, but there is much she was not able to accomplish. Sounds like we are distant cousins, if you are descended from her also. Feel free to reach me directly at Blessings to you!

RE: Sarah Kay Chance Downham (80000591)
Carolyn, I do not have any other burial information on the family. Have you contacted Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood to see if they have burial records for him? Sarah was a 3rd cousin, once removed but I did not know her. I would be interested in your connection to the family.

I wish I could be of help to you but I do not know who George Chance is.
I am researching the Ballinger family and William Chance was married to Martha Ballinger. I don't know if George is related or not.

Elaine Geren Wilkerson
Carolyn, You asked me about the ties I have to Susannah Jane Bowne buried in the Chance Cemetery in Franklin County; Susannah was the daughter of Samuel Jenks and his first wife, his second wife was Lura Potts; Ruth A Chance married James O Bowne, son of Alfred Bowne and his first wife Lydia Munson; Susannah Jenks was Alfred's second wife and my ancestors.

RE: add a child
Hi Carolyn,

You own the memorial for James so you will need to add the links to his parents. We can add parents but not children. Just go to the edit family links on James Memorial page and type in the same links you gave me.

Merry Christmas,

Kenneth Hockin
Hi Carolyn, No problem, I went today, photographed the tombstone & added to your mothers memorial. Your Granddaughters memorial already has 5 photo's, which is the maximum that Find A Grave allows without sponsoring (probably paying them). Here's the message I get:

"Free memorial photo maximum reached.
Find A Grave currently allows a maximum of 5 photos on a standard memorial page. If you would like to add more photos (up to 20), please consider sponsoring this memorial. Sponsoring a memorial does three things:

* Removes all advertising from the memorial.
* Increases the maximum number of photos from 5 to 20.
* Places a small heart () next to the name in the search results pages.

Sponsoring a memorial costs just $5. Proceed to the secure sponsorship page to complete the sponsorship process."

I am sending all the photo's that I took today of your mothers grave & you can use them as you want. If you decide to add any of them, it's OK. I will send them via email. Thanks for being a volunteer. Let me know if I can help you any further.
