Gravestone Photo Permission
I am happy to see that you photographed the gravestone of John W. Alford in Warren Cemetery (Memorial# 51719097).

I would like to add this gravestone photo to the non-profit Alford American Family Association's collection of Kentucky Obituaries, where his obituary is (or will be) included. You can see the current collection at

May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, the photo caption will say:

Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—
Permission granted by the photographer, Judith Partin

And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!

Best regards,
Pamela Alford Thompson (Find A Grave #47195155)

Erin Malone
Hensley Cemetery
Hi Judith,

I was looking at the records in Hensley Cemetery and noted you added a couple of photos. I am trying to determine if the Hensley Cemetery in Perry County, lower creek, Hazard Kentucky could be the same Henlsey Cemetery I'm searching for. It looks like your ancestor may be Elvira Crawford Hensley. Do you know if that cemetery has other internments?

Specifically I'm searching for the Henlsey Cemetery off Bean Eye Lane. It is described as Off Big Willard Road, Bean Eye Lane, 1/0 miile up hollow on the left. I believe the cemetery of Elvira may be the same place where Levi, Isablelle, Freddie, Taylor and SC Hensley are buried.

Can you by chance tell me if you think that this location I provided is the same cemetery in Perry County where Elvira Hensley is buried?

Macager Napier
Hi! I am wondering if you might be related to McCager Napier who had a son, Jackson Napier, born in Perry County, KY on 8 April 1857. Jackson's mother was Sally Whitaker. I do not believe McCager and Sally were married. I have reason to believe that since they were not married, Jackson ended up going by Jackson Whitaker.

Does this fit anywhere in your family tree? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for pointing out the name correction. I believe the person who added this memorial likely did so by transcribing names and other info from written pages. Photographs of stones were added later by others who walked the graveyards. I am very very very grateful to both sets of people who have helped me and many others in our genealogy research by adding names and by adding pictures.

Armelda McCabe Alford

I came across your entry for the above subject. I note that she had a son, Mitchell, at the age of 67 years old. I think this is an error.

Thank you,
Karen Cullum

Hi Judith,
My interest in Jones Creek is largely through the Jones line. I have a few folks in the cemetery that I directly descend from and the others are probably some sort of cousin or married a cousin.

RE: Transfer of membership

Thank you so much, Judith, for the transfer. There are so many others that I would like to have transferred that I believe we are going to become avid correspondants in the next few weeks...I promise not to bombard you all at once!
I hope you don't mind!

Hi, Thank you so much for posting the pictures. The day I visited the cemetery, my camera decided to not work so I had to leave empty handed.
Thank you,

Good job you are doing to document what is left of the memorial stones at a pioneer cemetery. What a shame this burial grounds is in such terrible condition!

re: Elizabeth Richey's photo
Many thanks for adding Elizabeth Richey's photo to the Find A Grave collection. I am new to this system, too. So new, in fact, that I didn't see that someone else had already taken that photo! I've got a lot to learn.

Many thanks for your time and trouble - Nancy

Hi Judith,

Thank You for your input. I took this photo in June of 2009. This is my Great Uncle. He was a young teenager when he died of rabies according to my Grandmother, his sister Lillie. I have tried to locate birth and death records for him without success.
