You are very welcome. We are trying to go earlier in the day before it gets unbearably hot. I understand Tuesday will be a cooler day. Hopefully, we will make more progress then.

RE: Ada Copeland King
You're welcome. What a fascinating man he was--I first became aware of him from reading "The Education of Henry Adams," he being one of Mr. Adam's closest and most admired friends.

I am still not sure how he "passed" in the black neighborhood where he and Ada lived, but I guess he was rarely at home.

Funny, I thought of him just a couple of weeks ago when the Rachel Dolezal brouhaha came about. I believe his intentions were less selfish than hers, even if things did not turn out as he planned.

RE: Virtual Cems
I've yet to enter the Damm folks - for real - but there are others who I created a memorial for but will not be flagged in any VC cause they have x-rated names - just a letter or two off...I can say to check out Dr. John Broome in Christ church in Port Republic Calvert county Md. I listed him in 2 VCs. Gotta think on this one. Don't want anyone to get mad but hell - it's his marker done long ago.
Times change and it says something else now...

The change in the name has been made and thank you for the correction. I had at first agonized over the difference but all the info I had had the s on the name.

No need to thank me as I do this out of love and I no longer live in La. either. I don't get to the cemeteries like I would like and don't have the access to info and the corrections are appreciated!

Blessings ~ Solange

RE: Craig Memorial Park cemetery
Hi Chris, no need to talk to locals. The Craig Swamp Cemetery is a totally different cemetery (in a totally different town). The Wainmans were never buried there. Mr & Mrs Wainman were buried at Craig Memorial Park, in St Augustine, FL, which has been owned and operated by the Craig Funeral Home since 1985. The funeral home (established in 1918 in St Augustine as the Sanchez & Craig Funeral Directors) and memorial park are family-run businesses, now into their 4th generation of the Craig family.

The Philips/Craig Swamp Cemetery is located in Jacksonville, FL. It is on St Augustine Road, near Lorimer Road, and is also near Craig Creek. The property there was originally owned by Albert Gallatin Philips, and his wife, Martha Ann Hendricks Philips. They donated the land in the 1840s for a Methodist church, school & cemetery. Many of the early pioneers of the Jacksonville area, along with both Union and Confederate war veterans, are buried there. Since 1971, the cemetery has been owned, and maintained, by the Southern Genealogist Exchange Society of Jacksonville, and they have done an excellent job. The marker you speak of is still there.

Hope this clears things up for you, and you can now make the distinction for the place the Wainmans are really buried. Let me know if you have any more questions. ~ Reenie

RE: Thanks
Hi Chris,
Glad I could help with the photos. The cemetery is called Craig Memorial Park, and not Craig Swamp Cemetery. They do a very nice job there of keeping the park clean and well-maintained. Let me know if you need any other photos in the area, I would be glad to be of assistance.
Best regards, Reenie

RE: Eatman graves
Gave it a shot .... while there were quite a few Eatmans, most have already been photographed. Check out

It says "Eatman, Calvin, c1832-30 Dec1899
(One census shows this family, i.e., Calvin L (Buck) Eatman, wife Annie Elizabeth Allen, dau of Darius Allen and Mary Hulbert, and son Charles William buried here they all have "modern" grave markers in the Eatman Cemetery in Flagler CO, FL and the complier has listed them in that posting -they may well be buried here)

If you check out that cemetery on Find A Grave their memorials are photographed there.

RE: Thanks -- Bear Creek Cemetery
I presume you have seen the Find a Grave information for John J Murphy: born 1888, died 1/11/1964 and Marie A Murphy born 2/25/1889, died 7/20/1980.
Chris Finch:

Three burial sites were purchased by John J Murphy on 5/29/1959. Our records show only the two burials for this family. However, on the third gravesite, there is a small funeral marker with a paper insert on which only the name John J Murphy Jr. can barely be recognized. We cannot make out any dates and have no record of this death and burial. With this information, we have assumed the third grave site was used for John J Murphy Jr.

Any supporting or confirming information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Are the any family members living in this area that may know more about this?
