Hey Trace,

I don't really know anything of Otis specifically... and honestly agree that his burial place is likely somewhere else.

All of the information I have is off of his death certificate, in my recollection of the folks from the prison it said something like "State Prison" for the burial location. Can't be for sure though... it has been to long and I don't have a copy of the certificate.

I tried to find something that resembled this location, however, with the Fred Burke memorial already existing I went ahead and leached off of this cemetery for being what they meant.

I see that Fred's burial has a picture of what one could infer is a burial site. Might be worth contacting the individual who posted that pic... they may know something more.

Sorry I can't be of more help. If you find anything out let me know.

Hi Trace - thanks for your message and the info.
Yes, definitely a connection.
If you email me, I will be able to pass on details of everything I know and have, as at this moment, I am not on Ancestry.
Lovely to have found you.

Possible WOOTTEN relative
Hi Trace

would it be possible that your EDWARD WOOTTEN's father was a CHARLES WOOTTEN and EW had brothers HENRY and FRANK and lived in the St Pancras/Marylebone area of London?

If so, we may have a family connection here.
Would'nt it be wonderful if their burials connected their descendents !

regards YJ

Wallace C PLETZKE photos
Thanks for the photos...they are beautiful, such a pretty spot.
You're right it's quite a big difference from last year....guess the sun shines quite a bit up there...but it makes the scenery all that much more spectacular.
Thanks for taking the time to get these beautiful shots once again.
I truly appreciate it.

Iain MacFarlaine
Greetings from London!
Dear Trace,

I am sorry to have to tell you that both Archibald and May Wootten were buried in communal graves, along with about fifteen other people. Therefore, not only do they not have a headstone, but the precise location of where their pits are has long since been forgotten.

Their serial numbers were:

Archie - V8/27, buried 21st. October 1918.
May - F/157, buried 4th. February 1895.

I have uploaded two pictures of each of the two sections in question. V8 is on the South side of Roman Road. I didn't walk into the section, because it was so overgrown that I would probably have broken my neck; but I took one picture from the road, in which Section W8 is in front, with a reasonably orderly row of graves, and V8 is behind it; and another picture, this time a close up of V8 from the back of W8. Somewhere amongst all those trees is your great-uncle's grave.

To make matters even worse, they have long since changed the numbering system; and, although V8 hasn't been altered, there is no longer a Section F, and no-one I spoke to knew where the present-day equivalent is. There is a Section FF, on the opposite side of Roman Road to V8, so it might as well be there as anywhere else; and, again, you can't really walk into it without endangering life and limb. One picture shows Section HF with, once more, a row of graves, and FF behind it, and the other picture is as close as I wished to approach to FF, especially as May might not even be there at all.

Mary Wootten was buried on the 13th. December 1938, in yet another communal grave; O/22869; but I can't work out from the map where this might be; and, by this time, the office had closed and everybody, except myself, had gone home. The next time I happen to be passing, I'll ask whether anyone knows the location, but don't expect anything very substantial.

Still, nobody knows where Mozart is buried, either!

All the best,
