RE: McConnell's in Brown County, Ohio
I'm still trying to do my research on siblings Thomas, James, and Mary McConnell who settled around the same time to Clermont County in 1798 or so.

Do you know from where or from whom they got their land?

Could it have come from the Downings? John Downing served in the Revolutionary War. I can't find where Arthur McConnell or anyone there served in the war and got a land grant.

RE: McMillin family
Leslie, I am not related to the mcmillins. They are ancestors of a close friend. While helping clean out her attic, we found the photos. I haven't done much research on her family. I believe the only photo or reference to the McConnels was that photo .
Sorry I could not be of more help. I hate to see old photos get lost, especially those with id's. So when possible I rescue and post .
Good luck with your research.
Jeff

There's a tax index reference in 1801 showing James McConnell owned land in what is now Brown County, but was then VMD and Adams County.

I've loaded his info, including what appears to be the actual tax roll, to my ancestry.com profile for James. My profile name is rickohio3.

McConnell's in Brown County, Ohio
I see you are maintainer of the memorial for Capt. Thomas McConnell buried in Brown County, Ohio.

I'm a direct descendant of his brother, James.

Do you happen to have any info on James? I'm decended from James' daughter Harriet.

I'm especially interested in finding evidence to verify that James, like Thomas, lived in Ohio before 1803.

Anything you can share would be appreciated.

Hey Leslie
I was looking through all of my family info and the only info I have for Charles' wife was that her name was Ellen Sheard and she was born around 1854, so far I haven't found out who her parents were or when she died, do you have any more info on her?

I have one picture of Charles Meeks, in it he is holding a dog, do you have it? I would be happy to email it you. Do you have any picture os his wife?

Charles Meeks
Hi Leslie, yes, Charles is buried in Greenwood cemetery in the same plot as his daughter Catherine Smith, he doesn't have a stone though. I have not found where his wife Ellen was buried though.
