RE: SW Hall
Yeah...The caption explains it. As for other Hall's, this is a Single Graves area, so there are not other family with him. [If you mean for the whole cemetery, this is a very large municipal cemetery and it looks like there are more than 100 Hall memorials on Find-a-Grave and probably more burials that don't have memorials...In this cemetery, most recorded burials up through 1892 have had memorials created but for more recent burials most have not.]

You are very welcome. Next to Raymond Desrosiers, I found a flat stone with the name David P. Desrosiers 1951-2003. If you're interested I'll be happy to send you this photo.

You're welcome. On the backside of Thaddeus Jez, I found another Military plaque for John Thomas Jez, Jr. Born July 11, 1910, died August 10, 1942. If you're interested I'll send you a photo of the stone.

Frederick R Wilkes
Just curious: Are you a relative? Frederick's sister, Frances, was married to Warren Hall Day; his mother was Abigail Hall?

Oh, duh! Sorry 'bout that.

All I can think of is the Library of Congress. (You can also type in individual names or unit names.) Here is a link-

The LOC results for 'civil war colored'-

The best photo I know of of William Carney is at the National Gallery of Art. Here is the link-

That's all I have now, John.

Sorry, i will be of no help to you. I don't have any headstone photos. It seems like a worthwhile project and I wish you success!

All the best,

I'm not really sure what you're asking of me or what the listed memorial number is in regards to.

Please clarify?

RE: Memorial# 89585008
lol, I understand, I was just wanting to make sure because there are many people who don't realize that West Virginia is it's own state now. LOL
I kinda figured, being a Civil War buff, that you knew.

Thats, fine with me.
Your facebook is -- you do realize that he is buried in West Virginia right?

I have a couple new pix, but still will never be very good as he is on the north side of the marker, and there is nasty discoloration within the stone itself. I brushed it really hard, but the darkness remains...sorry.

John, I have no problem with you using my photos as long as it is not for profit. I don,t even care about credit. I do this so people can find their family. However you may want to check the Find A Grave rules on using them on another site.

That would be fine, John, but looks like Captain Bliss needs a better picture, which I'd be honored to get for you. Foliage was probably in the way when that one was taken.

Hi John. I just read your message requesting use of my photo(s) for your USCT Facebook page. The page looks great & I'd be more than happy to allow you to use my photos. I have taken photos of all readable stones in the Zion Hill Cemetery in Columbia, PA - many interred there were in the USCT. I'm not sure if I have any photos of anyone from other cemeteries, but I will check & keep it in mind for the future.

What is your procedure to obtain photos? Do you just copy my photo from the Find A Grave site or would you want me to email you all the photos I have for any USCT? Let me know & I can email you privately in the future.
