RE: Bernice Willodene Mattingly Bratcher
Wilodean had three children that I know of but I believe the two youngest died in 2006. I haven't verified that yet but that's what her obituary says. She has a son named Norman Bratcher, born 14 Aug 1958, and a sister, Dalcie Robertson, both living in Owensboro when Wilodean died. I haven't been in contact with either of them.

Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer (KY) - July 6, 2008

Bernice W. (Dean) Bratcher, 70, of 505 Tampa Drive died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born May 4, 1938, in McLean County to the late Bernice Mattingly and Leona Durbin Mattingly. She was a homemaker and a member of Good Shepherd Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Charles Bratcher, in 1988; a daughter, Carol Ann Bratcher; and a son, Charles Allen Bratcher, in 2006. She is survived by a son, Norman Bratcher of Owensboro ; and a sister, Dalcie Robertson of Owensboro . Services are at 2 P.M. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel with Sister Dorothy Crow officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Rumsey. Visitation is after noon Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Church Building Fund, 3031 Bittel Road, Owensboro , KY 42301 . Online condolences may be left at

Cemetery search

I'm looking for a cemetery that may contain a few ancestors.
It's the Roberts Graveyard Charles Sparkman located in White County, Tennessee. I saw that you had uploaded a photo of the cemetery and was wondering if you could provide me with directions or contact information, because I'd love to visit it.

Thank you for your time,
Jarod Roberts

RE: Templeton Cemetery
Thanks you for all of your wonderful help! Seems we drove right by it yesterday in our search. It was hidden in the trees, but we were easily able to get there and in fact had my 90 year old mother walk to see it too!! We did carefully hold on to her!! Narcissa's grave stone was underneath a lot of brush, but we finally found her, I think we couldn't find one relative, but did see Pleasant and his mother. What a story! Again, thank you so much for your info/ locator and your interest and passion!! Susie

We are looking for the address of the Templeton Cemetary. My mother's great great grandfather is buried there. She only remembers it was only a "little bit of a rise" but that was a long time ago as she is 90 now. We are staying at Fall Creek Falls and visiting old home places of the Eagle's, Smith's, Gooch's and Templeton's. We would love to visit there with her tomorrow as we have been unsuccessful in our adventures of finding it today. Thanks!!

Hello, I am trying to find their grave sites to make a picture of their headstones for your request. His death date is 1912 but the office said this cemetery was established in the 1920's. I will be glad to help get you a photo if you know where their graves are located in this cemetery or another. I have walked this entire cemetery but can not find their headstones. Thanks Jack Eslick

A mistake I had just caught
I wrote and said that Abel, Sr was married to Sarah Swindell, researched it more and found out as of this time, his wife is unknown. Sarah Swindell is married to Abel, III, Abel, Sr. grandfather. Sorry for the mistake. Will research on the Hutson's tree later. If anyone has any info on Abel Hutson, Sr., please email me. Sincerely

Abel Hutson III
I saw the pictures of Abel Hutson Cemetery and I just found out the Abel that is buried there is the Reverend Albert Lee (Abel) Hutson, III 1772-1845; he was in the Revolutionary War. His wife name is Sarah Moore 1774-1845. They was married in 1791. I am trying to find out who was Sarah parents. There are Abel Hutson, Sr. 1732-1806,(grandfather) married to a Sarah Swindell 1741-1839, Abel and Sarah's parents are a question mark and then is Abel, Jr.1756-1805 (father to Abel III) who's married to Susannah Britton 1755 - ?. I haven't found out who her parents are. But I will keep looking. You can find my information on the Hutsons on the Howells Tree on Ancestry. I hope the info that I given to you helps.

RE: Abel Hutson Cemetery
Thank you so very much for the directions to the Abel Hutson cemetery. My brother and I have been working on family cemeteries for the past several years. We have erected headstones for many of our ancestors in Franklin, Marion and Polk counties in East Tennessee.
Our paternal Moore lineage is from the Rhea County (Dayton, TN) area. My mother was a Sullivan born at Bone Cave in Van Buren County. Her mother was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Passons. My GG grandfather was Tilford Passons. Tilford's wife was Sarah Hutson, daughter of Mattias Hutson. Mattias was the son of Abel Hutson Jr. Abel Hutson Jr.s wife was Sarah Moore. That is our connection to the Moores of White County. I have not traced the Moores past that so far. I do intend to do so.
Tilford, Sarah and their son Benjamin Franklin Passons are buried in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in unmarked graves. There is a flat rock with B f Passons scratched on it. They are buried very near Mattias Hutson. We have received permission to place headstones there for them.
We are trying to determine exactly where Abel Hutson Jr & his wife Sarah Moore are buried. We have been told they are in Hutson Cemetery #3; but we could not find a marker there for them. I noted that you showed a Sarah Hutson being buried in the Abel Hutson Cemetery. Abel Hutson's wife was Susannah Britton whom he married while still in North Carolina. Could this be who is actually buried with him in the Abel Hutson Cemetery?
I am from Lafayette, LA and visit with my relatives in Marion county several times each year. We do our cemetery work when I visit. I hope to return in April. I would be very appreciative of any information concering our ancestors that you might be able to provide to me.

Thanks so much for taking the time to add this cemetery to Find A Grave. Abel Hutson is my 5G

Warm regards,

RE: Hutson #3
I am so appreciative to those in White County who are taking the effort to mark and preserve the old cemeteries. It has been wonderful to return to the land where my ancestors lived and to find their graves. Without the efforts of people like you, many of us would have no idea just where to look. Bless you! You are performing a valuable service.

RE: Hutson Cemetery
We knew that Hutson Cemetery #3 had been incorrectly marked as the Abel Hutson Cemetery. We were there in June of 2009 and again in June of 2010. In June of 2009, the cemetery was shoulder high in weeds and trees. We could not see the tombstones at all. The cemetery was cleared later in the summer, and we were notified that it had been cleared by people in the Hutson family. We were able to go back last summer to view the graves, but the Able Hutson sign was still posted.

Thank you for adding the photos of the tombstones in the Hutson Cemetery. I have been there twice, and was able to make photos of the graves of my ancestors, but they aren't as good as yours. Can you tell me when you took the photos???

RE: Eliza Hutson marker
I am glad you posted that picture for it sure did help me see the inscription better. Ah, I forgot to include my e-mail address, didn't I?! Here it is: I would love to know about your Hutsons. I am trying to sort them out and hopefully identify Eliza's husband Oliver P. Hutson / Hudson to see which one he belonged to. No luck so far but it could be Archibald Hutson.

Eliza Hutson marker
Hello. I saw that you had posted a better picture of the marker for Eliza (Elisa) Hutson at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery and wonder if you can e-mail me the jpg file you might have on her grave marker. She is my great-great-great-grandmother and I hope to have her page transferred to me to maintain. Thank you for the photo.

RE: Hutson Cemetery
I just want to thank you again.
I know what you mean I think all of us wish we had done thinks differently when we started our genealogy research.

My main line is Knowles and I have been researching a long......time. I have DNA documented for the John Knowles Line of White County, TN. I live in Colorado at this time although I am a native Texan. I have been longing to go to Tennessee for years but that has not been an option but I do see it as an option in the future. I think people who have been a reseacher for a long time wish to share and I think in genealogy when you share it always come back to you. On my husband side I do not research much but I do have the information that I have, posted just because I know how important it is to share.

All these years I have kept my info in microsoft excel and just last year I started putting my info in ancestry trees. It is a long process...
You ssid in the spring you were going to do more picture taking, I would appreciate any of the Knowles line that you can add to Mount Pisgah find a grave site if you are in that area.

What is your main line?
