My pleasure. Do you think he is also at this cemetery? I will go back and check.. there was a funeral going on nearby, so I just got in and got out. Did not even look for other relatives. Sorry.

Thanks so much for sending the photos & information. The headstones are the ones I wanted to link to the tree, if this is all right with you.
I was quite saddened to discover how Lena passed away. I can't imagine how Shirley felt losing his wife & the children. Such a tragedy. To think if it were to happen today, hopefully they all would have survived.
I'll begin my research on your Nana probably on Monday.
Have a great weekend, and thanks again.

Gotcha now! Sorry you first mentioned Wakeford as Hazel's last name and I didn't know that name. Yes, Hazel was married into my family. I believe I have her obit too. I will look to see and maybe it's different than yours??? Trying to remember if I have a contact for Earl's family. I will look... Not sure that I do but will ask a great aunt that also married in if she knows anything. :-)

These names do not ring any bells. Can you tell me what their memorial numbers are??? I doubt I have anything further as most I've input were from walk-thrus.

I'd like your permission to use your photos in my Ancestry family tree.
Shirley is a distant ancestor, through his first wife Lena, to my brother-in-law.
Thanks so much,

|Megan Heyl||Walters Photo Request|
Hello Charlene -
I claimed your photo request for Hilligin Walters and I am sorry to report that after meeting with the cemetery office, this burial in not at either Graafschap or Pilgrim Home cemeteries. Now it is possible that this person is here - if you happen to have a death certificate stating such. Some burial records were destroyed and they occasionally come across a burial they are unaware of. In this case, if this person is buried there - there is no headstone. I will mark the photo request accordingly. Sorry! Megan

|Barb Hassler||RE: Acker photos etc|
You are so welcome. I felt bad that I had to wait so long to resolve the situation. We had snow and ice starting the end of November right through to Easter week. It was the most horrible winter I've ever experienced. I learned long ago, that if I get a few minutes to research the cemetery records at the historical society, it actually saves me time hunting around in the cemetery. I also learned to check in the records as to who is buried on either side of the stones I am hunting for. That way if the stone is completely worn or missing, it can be noted as a photo request for a lot without a stone or not legible would otherwise never get fulfilled. I am glad to help as some day I may need to rely on others to get headstones photographed for me. As of now I've been lucky that most mine are within an hour drive of my home, but it may change at any time. Barb

|Barb Hassler||RE: John Acker and wife stones|
You will see that you received a photo request for John and Maria Acker. Please note that I removed the stone I previously posted to John's memorial. I did that because he was NOT buried on that plot and was actually in another area of the cemetery. Next to them was a stone for Franklin Acker. I added a photo of his stone as well and he must be somehow connected to your family being he was buried aside of Maria Acker. Also I would like to let you know that when I checked the records for them at the Historical Society earlier today, the church burial records for Maria reads: "Mother Maria nee Fries Acker wife of John b. 10/23/1822 d. 4/20/1886. This maiden name differs from that posted on the memorial by the person who entered the record. I thought you may want to know this as the information conflicts with what is on the memorial. I hope this information is of help to you. Another note for you, there are many Fries surname stones at this cemetery.

I finally got back to Morgenland Cem. tonight. I saw your note about John's stone being right behind the large monument. Reading left to right is the information for the 4 stones behind the large Acker monument: John George 10/22/1821-12/18/18811, Lucinda George 11/21/1814-5/4/1883, Alfred J Acker 2/12/1851-9/1/1915 and Sarah A Acker 11/28/1858-11/19/1945. Initially I thought I missed the stone but then realized that I deleted it when I saw the surname was George on the 2 stones and saw the John stone behind the monument and thought I missed it. I walked the entire cemetery tonight and couldn't find any other Acker stones. I do have photos of John and Lucinda George. I forgot to check before writing this message to see if there is a memorial for the Georges. If there is I will add the photos. If not, please add their memorials and I will be glad to add the photos. that way you can maintain them as they are most likely family. Many of the older stones are not legible, and many graves no longer have stones. I will someday try to check at the historical society to see if there is any further information or where in the cemetery the Ackers are located but it may be a few months as I work the same hours as the historical society and don't get there often. I will let you know what I find when I am able to get there.

Just to let you know, as I was editing Lydia (Byers) Peters, I noted she is listed in Byers Cem and Bainbridge Cem. She is in Byers Cem #100318948. There is much confusion about these two cemeteries, as they are divided by an "unseen line" to most. Lydia is in the Byers (side)of the Cem, on the Peters lot. Martin Byers, her father, donated the land for Byers Cem, township of Bainbridge, set apart the other side, for Bainbridge Cem.
Listings are by you on 5-18-2012, #90339512
and, Pauline, on 11-07-2012...DJ Baker

Gosh no - I didn't reference or search for anything in Maryland ??? With the poor condition of these headstones & lack of records, so glad you have info on this important family so I'm using your info. I've deleted the link to John B. Stewart as I can't find any Stewart's now in the 1870 or 1880 census in Macomb or St. Clair Counties, Michigan. Can I ask a favor for the future to help us - can you click on the "edit" button on the profile you have updates or info to relay - otherwise, I don't even know what cemetery to look in as I work in many cemeteries daily in several counties and states. Thanks for all of your help - very much appreciated ! Hope you Enjoy the photos ! The Great News is the Stewart family plot should be up next this year for restoration if funds are available - they are the next row to be restored.
